Any hearing aid can fit too tight, too loose, or otherwise badly.

Real hearing aids (with a couple of unusual exceptions) are made by taking an impression of the ear. This special rubber like material creates a copy of the shape of the ear, and hearing aids are built from this impression.

If the impression is not taken properly or becomes warped or damaged, or the factory does not do a good job processing the impression, the hearing aid may not fit well.

The best thing to do in this case is to take it back to your hearing professional and ask them to change the shape. If they cannot modify the aid themselves they should take a new impression and try again.

Do not blame your hearing professional as it is not always their fault if this happens. For example if the impression is left in a very hot place for a long time during transit it could be warped before the factory ever get to see it.

So just go back and tell them about the fit and the problem should be easily rectified.

Keep in mind also that sometimes aids seem a little tight at first, it's like getting a new pair of shoes. But if you don't get used to it soon, go back.

Absolutely! The hearing aids are made from an impression taken from your ear, but sometimes modifications need to be made for the most comfortable fit. In some cases the shell may need to be remade after obtaining a new impression of the ear if simple modifications does not solve the fit problem.

The hearing aids should be comfortable if made correctly. Do not hesitate to return to where you purchased the instrument and tell them of your fit problems. A proper fit is one of the things that you pay your hearing care professional for. It is their job to assure that all is going well, from the sound quality to the fit. Good Luck.

it could be that someone is not used to it at first and it will seem like its tight, but rather it could be that they just are not used to having anything in their ears. i have had a hearing aid for 12 years now and i hardly know it is there when i wear it because im used to it. though if i get a new one or when i went from the one i had first to the one i have now, everything felt different. so it could just be a matter of getting used to it. but if it does feel tight and painful, you may want to have that checked out

why not? One size does not fit all no matter what they tell you.
