Of course I only asked the question so that I could force feed my opinion. :) I believe that life is precious so abortion should be illegal because we have methods of protection available, ie contraceptives. I also believe, however, that certain circumstances can arise such as rape and incest in which cases abortion should be allowed. What is your opinion on why we cant get common sense back into the government?

"Many people who terminate their pregnancy do have a lot of common sense! They know if they have one and can't afford it YOU damn sure aren't going to pay for the expenses, not only in money, but the social costs as well. Now that makes them pretty damn smart!!"

Umm as I said there is such a thing as contraceptives. Being smart is using them if you do not want a child.

I think abortion is bad! It is a terrible and cruel thing to do, i don't know how some people have the heart to do that! I would never be able to do that to a poor tiny baby who did nothing wrong!

The only time i feel abortion is okay is like you have said when there is rape. Then i can understand and it must take real guts to get rid of a baby. That must be difficult and i sympathise for the people who have to go through with that.

The government should make it illegal to have an abortion under certain circumstances.

It is a personal choice. "Personal" It should always be a private decision made. It's not very private when you go to a clinic and get harrassed and heckled by pro-life protesters. Walk a mile in her shoes, then you know what it's like to have the blues. Do you think the women going to have this procedure done are happily skipping through the parking lot? NO. It is a tough decision to make. Some women carry the effects of that decision the rest of their lives. Should we bare children we can't feed? If abortion were illegal we would have mothers and children starving in the streets.

Abortion always kills an innocent human being and therefore is always wrong. Keep in mind that the circumstances of the conception (including rape and incest) are not the baby's fault, and he or she does not deserves to die because of them. Would we kill a one-year-old because her daddy was a rapist? Of course not! Then why is it okay to kill a child in the womb conceived the same way? Keep in mind, too, that a father who commits incest with his daughter can cover it up by aborting her child, and often forces an abortion for just this reason. Also, abortion only increases the grief and trauma experienced by a victim of rape or incest. It causes them to become the aggressor, hurting another innocent victim just as they were hurt. The guilt of having committed murder will haunt them long after they have healed from the rape.

There is a ton of help available for anyone facing challenges in their pregnancy. Crisis pregnancy centers can provide financial, legal, medical, and housing assistance, as well as free maternity and baby supplies and much more.

I don't equate the issue of person's needing an abortion and getting common sense back in government!

You are entitled to your opinion! You don't have to have an abortion! That is where your opinion ends and someone Else's begins!

Many unwanted pregnancies are among children who do not have access to Birth Control, and according to people like you, they should never learn about it in school.

Many poor people can't afford birth control. Why don't you do something good and start giving it to everyone who wants it free?

Many people who terminate their pregnancy do have a lot of common sense! They know if they have one and can't afford it YOU damn sure aren't going to pay for the expenses, not only in money, but the social costs as well. Now that makes them pretty damn smart!!

If you think life is so precious why do we have almost 3,000 dead men and women coming home in body bags? They come home at least 2 a day!!

I noticed you left out women who are likely to die giving birth. Is her life not worth more than that of a fetus? The rest of her children will never have a mother!

I noticed you didn't mention religion, what is the basis of your objection? I suspect it is religion and it isn't for you to judge.God will do that if he so choses!

I think it is sad, but the termination of a pregnancy often becomes a choice, and those making that choice, are the ones who know their cicumstances far better than we do. Many don't like that choice either, but for them it is the right one!

Poor people are not baby factories for the rich!!

There are plenty of ways to cut down on the need for the termination of a pregnancy, but we aren't willing to do it!! We just pass a law and make someone else suffer. How nice!! How do we sleep at night knowing that?

I have seen the consequences of children or young adults having children. I investigated child abuse for 16 years. I have seen the alcoholism and drugs in families and the neglect and abuse that stems from it, to include mother's pimping out their children to get booze. I have seen unwanted kids who have never bonded to their mother, who is battered by her drunk boyfriend. Because a baby cries, I have seen them in Emergency rooms with ALTE's (Acute Life threatening Events) where in one case the child had stopped breathing twice. Once because the boyfriend stuffed her mouth full. The child was less than 1 year old. I have seen bilateral femur fractures, snapped like a chicken bones, kid's in pediatric ICU comatose because her brain was swollen so much she had to be on a vent. One also had a tuptured spleen and was shaken with posterior rib fractures. I have been to Emergency rooms on Christmas Eve to see a child I saw a week before, and thoought I had settled the issue, beaten almost to death. I saw a kid who went to the ER for one laceration. The ER accepted the excuse, and sutured the laceration. The kid when she was reported by someone else, said that she hit the end of a table. Children seldom lie about things like that, what she left out was she was thrown across the room BEFORE she hit the table. We had the kid undress and we counted 87 bruises in various stages of healing. These are not isolated. They happen thousands a time day.

And that doesn't include children who have children, and then after birth slide them under the bed to die, or the dead kids. most from being shaken or having internal injuries, and some from starving to death! Not ONE kid in this country has EVER died of child abuse! That's because the legislature and the docs will not give that as a cause of death! It isn't a diagnosis, though I have found a few willing to say that it is in writing

Kids also pay a price for being born to someone who does not want them, or put their disease first (That is always first trust me) and her boyfriend or husband. I always thought I heard every excuse in the book...until I hear the next one!! What do you think happens to this child when they become adults! You won't pay for social services either!

Termination of a preganancy should not be taken off the table on the basis of your or anyone elses opposition! You aren't God and you aren't having. or supporting, a baby when, or if, it is born!

Using contreception is smart, if you can afford it or they are available to you! But the anti-abortionist are now after the pill trying to say it is a form of abortion! Pure BS!!

I belive in letting a woman decide what she wants to do with her own body, however, I would not choose it for myself. Instead of wasting time and energy on this abortion debate, it should be on safe sex, and prevention. If someone is raped, there is always adoption. And aren't rape and incest babies just as innocent as any other baby? My brother once told me that the babies born of incest and rape were a plan of god...

Is your question "what is your view on abortion" or "Why can't we get common sense back into government". These are two totally different questions. My view on abortion has very little to do with the common sense abilities of our government leaders.

I am pro choice...I dont think the government has any right to govern the issue anyway..however..since they do if they must put it to terms then I say have limits..like you I believe a rape or incest situation is of utmost reasons to have it done and that should be part of the statute..

There are waiting lists for unborn baby's to adopt in America. So over 90% of Americans identify themselves as Christians and all these religions state that abortion is murder.

i think abortion is just plain wrong. i am pro-life my self. I was thinking about getting an abortion my self about 11 months ago, and as soon as i heard her heartbeat, i couldn't. now i have a beautiful, precious, 4-month old and i love her to death. I thought i would be struggling now, but thank god i have the help and suporrt from a good man and family and friends. i was thinking about it because i had an affair and i don't know who her father is. but thank goodness my baby girl has a father who is willing to claim her as his, even though he know he might not be her father. and i was 19 and i was worried about what my family would think too, at first they didnt support me, but know they love her to death, too. but like i said, you knew that, you could have got pregnant, and now you want to be irresponsible and worng for killing an innocent child. the baby didn't ask to be here.

Making abortion illegal won't stop abortions from happening, it will only stop them from being safe. 43% of abortions worldwide are illegal.

My suggestion is that if you do not agree with abortions, do not have one. They have been around for a long time, my friend, and they are here to stay.
