"CSI (Intra-cytoplasmic sperm injection) is one technique that uses micromanipulation. A prepared egg is placed under a microscope and injected with an individual sperm. Sperm may be collected by masturbation or from the testis itself through surgical techniques such as MESA or TESE. Once fertilised, the embryo is incubated and implanted by embryo transfer when it's reached two to four cells in size. ICSI may be offered to couples who don't conceive by other methods. The first ICSI pregnancy was in 1988.

However, there's some contraversy about this technique. For example, there's concern that an egg could be fertilised with a sub-standard, weak sperm, possibly resulting in a damaged or unhealthy child. But although the pregnancy rate with ICSO is not high, the babies born so far have been normal with no chromosomal abnormalities"

That being said, I would only use it as a last resort. This is because, that sperm that would otherwise never have reached the egg, because it was not healthy, would never have conceived a disabled or unhealthy child. I guess you have to weigh how much you want a child, against the possible risks, and try to decide from that. All the best to you, and good luck in trying to conceive!
