Oh, my God, where do I start?? our "entertainment", movies, etc. emphasizing rape, violence, revenge, self-indulgence and immorality (behavior where the consequences to others is ignored in favor of selfish gratification); Lack of rights for women, children, people without money, workers of races other than white, (injustices), corruption of our government (in favor of a quick profit over any other consideration). Even our priests molest children and it is winked at, hidden, protected.... In practice, money is the God here; we are losing our basic constitutional rights as a result... Everyone is encouraged to see others as the "bad" guy just because he doesn't want to help us satisfy our insatiable appetites..... Keep asking these questions; it's a good start.... Just 30 years ago things were not like this; there was a morality in America that has been destroyed in the service of "filthy lucre." Women's bodies are displayed shamelessly for men to lust after; that's one of the most obvious traits of our culture...the objectification of women. And then, we make ourselves out to be the "righteous christian country" which has to go throughout the world teaching others a lesson!!! Wow!

There is a really good book entitled Anti-americanism written by a Frenchman Jean-Francois Revel. He argues that most of the criticism is cultural and while some is justified the frequency of the criticisms is not warranted. As a Frenchman he notes that the US is not perfect, but the world, especially European countries, should look at their own political and cultural failings instead of hypocritically judging the failings of the Americans (US).

Do they consider it a sin in the religious sense? I think it is more a matter of disliking our excesses, and differences in morality.

I think it because we can do whatever we want to do. . and also say whatever we want to our government. I think it is there government that has told these people that we are sinners because they don't want there people to tell them what to do.
