If he had made the big mistake on the penalty kick (which again, I say it was legitimate), he would have released by FIFA! Instead, he is refereeing one of the most important game of the WORLD CUP! Unless now you come up with the BS of FIFA being corrupted or incompetent, that shows what I have always said: the pk for ITALY was legitimate, because when committing obstruction in the penalty box, the opponent team is awarded with penalty kick!

I'll tell you something, I was watching that game and, as the play happened, I thought it was a penalty too. My team in Brazil ( Internacional) was heavily harmed by bad officiating causing it not to win the championship by 1 point. The referee actually confessed to altering game results for money.
I'm a strong believer that "Instant Replays" should be available for referees to make a call in such cases. Futbol is a sport where scoring doesn't come by easily and for Australia it was a very high price to pay. Just my honest opinion.

This shows the incompetence of FIFA, who knows, maybe France will need a penalty in the extra time as well as the italians (incompetence is when a mistake has happened and you do not have the guts to admit it)
