Drama and pain happen in EVERYONE's lives. It is displayed often in entertainment, be it movies or books, that the one who takes everything slowly and thinks about things and usually stays far away from acting on anything does the best. For those who have seen the old Kung Fu series with David Caradine (sp) know the type. The wise character usually. Do you believe this is an effective way to deal with problems? Does it work? All the time or some of the time??

Everything is perception.

I came to this way of being when I realized after having my son that things are only as busy and drama-full as I made it. I ran little tests. If I stayed completely silent the whole day, how much in my life actually changed. In the evening, wouldn't the people I know percieve me in the same way as if I were busy?

I am a type INFJ. I am equally inroverted and extroverted, favoring introvert whenever possible.

I think if a person has it in them to be the "Cool-headed"-type observer, then this could be a gift. Just because they choose to not display the emotion and drama externally, doesn't mean in every case that thy don't feel the drama internally, they just choose, or are naturally gifted to not drag other into the mire.

Choosing to working on a more neutral approach, a wiser approach as to how we initiate/participate in drama can help the longevitey of our sanity as well as our lives. So....perhaps. This is just my perception of the question you have asked.

Have you ever seen Adaptation? I know, it's kinda lame to compare a contemporary movie with a classic, but it conveys my point pretty easily. Nicholas Cage's character (one of them) was plagued by this idea of writing a movie about static characters. Ones that just don't change or show any huge emotional break-throughs. His justification for this was that "that's how real life is." The character also suffered from a slight neurotic social disorder that left him usually as the death of the party. He thought through things too much. So much that life was pretty much just passing him by.

If you've seen this movie you should kinda get what I'm trying to say here. If not, go see it and pay special attention to the inner monologues.

Once again, sorry for the lame comparison, it was the first movie that applied to pop into my head.

If you ignore emotional pain for too long, it is possible for the stress of it to cause physical illnesses to manifest themselves or to lower your immune system. Additionally, it may make you more vulnerable to acting on aggressive feelings or other negative emotions.

Physical pain is there to tell us something is wrong and to fix it. Listen to your body when it hurts.

Drama can be ignored, but doing so makes life less interesting, because you can learn a lot about people from the drama they create or get involved in.

It is very possible, martial arts masters ignore pain daily until it is no longer a real entity. Drama can be ignored by staying away from women. Good luck with that!

I haven't seen the series you're talking about, but yes it is possible to ignore pain and drama. There are many of us who have had babies without pain meds. Talk about ignoring pain and drama!

it IS possible to ignore pain.. I have to do it frequently. Whenever I have a headache, especially, for medical reasons, I am not allowed to have aspirin or whatever.
