What was the old slogan? Watched the old Superman movies but not an avid follower.

I really liked the movie, but yes, I do have pause about the lack of the "American Way" part; however, whether you are conservative or liberal, it's pretty hard to deny that we're a divided people right now. What does the American Way even mean anymore? Does it mean that we have some sort of sacred role in world affairs or does it mean that we value individual freedoms? Both? Neither? I would say that Superman's character is actually improved in the new film. He's still noble and selfless, but he has feelings and he isn't entirely one dimensional. He is bothered by feelings of loneliness, sadness, isolation, and regret. Either way, there's only so much that can be done with an invincible character with inconceivable super powers. That's why Batman is the better character; there's nothing super about him, he's just brave, well trained, and dedicated. Being rich helps too.

That really sucks that they did that.
I HATE when they make these live action movies of comic book favorites only to change them around so much that it's really NOT the same character.
Case in point - the X-Men.
I'm a diehard X-Men fan since I was a little kid. I used to collect the comics during Chris Claremont's run (when they were good). The live action versions are a Bastard creation not worthy of the name.
The same goes for all the Batman movies, except of course Batman Begins, which was a step in the right direction.
Daredevil sucked. The Hulk sucked. The Fantastic Four... why did they turn Dr. Doom into Magneto? Anyway, it sucked. Elektra sucked. Catwoman... the list is too long.

It's not so much a political angle, as one looking at the economics of global film distribution. This movie is going all over the world, has to appeal to the greatest number of movie goers and it lessens a foreign markets identification with the movie if there are reminders the this is all set in America.

Yeah, I noticed that part was left out. Prob left it out because they want the movie to have a more universal appeal. I don't think anyone had "hate" on their mind. You notice they did show Superman doing his good deeds all over the world. Overseas box office is important.

I think we are a more global community now, and our media reflects that. It's not like Superman wouldn't save someone in another country. Superman is not just America's hero, he is everyone's hero.

I thought the previews showed a very Fake looking movie.Throw that on top of the fact that I think the role that was perfected by Christoper Reaves, should of ended with him as SUPERMAN.For the truth of the matter is,,,,,,,he truely was!
I personally refuse to dishonor his memory by allowing myself to go see it.
