The world...you are asking many questions here. Are you asking about the environment, politics, or what? Within these vast parameters, we could talk about anything but I think you are searching for an answer dealing with the politics and the conflicts, perhaps the environment. The politics are governed by the wealthy, that have the money-power to sway people to their point of view and there are but very few 'elected' representatives that are in the middle income class. With that in mind, money begets money and a healthy stake in oil companies will reap bigger dividends and a perpetuation of the same aristocracy that exists now. If some towel-headed nation chooses to go against them, then we opt for invasion to insure that the various companies have a dividend. Wars have always had a profit motive behind them. The environment is a different matter. It is simply a matter of man abusing nature. In the 1970s, the World Almanac predicted that the individual would never stop using private vehicles contributing to the carbon monoxide levels, The government resists controlling pollution....again perhaps from vested interests. The Kyoto Accords were a farce as the US ignores the very fabric of the resolutions. Where will things stop...when we have reached the end.

Because it has to be some way. If it were different, you could still ask the same question of why it is that way.

Is the world such a horrible place? Not for me it isn't...I'm amazed at all that we have accomplished. Amazed by people so smart that we learn to prevent and treat diseases, invent computers and put up satellites. We can travel to the other side of the world in 1 day and preserve and cook food in minutes. This world is an amazing place when you stop to think of it. Think about all the stuff you don't know anything about...maybe how to build a bridge across the Chesapeake Bay or launch a space shuttle...or organize a relief effort for hundreds of thousands of people. Man am I glad there are people that know how to do that stuff!

Some days it amazes me that we have peace anywhere...I mean, the world would be horrible if chaos broke out everywhere...I mean mass anarchy chaos...sure there is crime and brutality...but overall, we're fairly well organized considering the complexity of it all. I can go to the store and get food with just an electronic transaction...and the store trusts me and trusts the banks!

Can we do better? Sure we can...what is your contribution? There are plenty of people out there making a huge difference in the world...are you?

What is right with it? It depends on your experience of it and your outlook. I used to detest it when someone would say, “The world is what you make of it.” Now I think they were on to something. Everything in Life has an opposite polarity. For every perceived “good” there is a perceived “bad” or vice versa . Maybe it is so we can tell the difference.

You can’t have beauty without ugly…but if you take a closer look at it…who gets to say what is beautiful and what is ugly? It is in the eye of the beholder…and this should give you an idea of how to view the world. In God’s eyes, we are all beautiful. Perhaps we should pay closer attention to this simplistic view.

Everyone has a purpose…even the perceived “monsters” of the world. Perhaps it is just another way for us to ennoble our spirits…to right some wrongs.

The world as a whole is subject to mass consciousness. When you lift your own thoughts of it; it will automatically lift another…and another, so on and so forth. When you do something to make the world a better place, your actions will lift another and another…and the world becomes a better place. It has a trickle effect. You get the idea.

You are participating in creation. You are here for a reason. Do your part to make it a better place.

Because everyone is so stuck on themselves and their opinions that they cannot see that others exist as well. Hardly anyone seems to care about another anymore. The world is selfish and therefor "the way it is." And no, certain religious groups (that I shall not specify, but this includes anyone who may think this way) are not excluded from being selfish. Being so hell-bent on "being right" is often the may component to the selfishness that I mentioned. It is a natural human characteristic to be selfish to a degree...this comes from survival of the fittest, but today's societies tend to take it too far. Rather than getting what one needs and a little bit extra, today's world is focused on getting anything and everything possible and then showing it off/bragging. That is was is wrong with the world and thus why it is how it is.

It is the way it is because it is what it is. A state indicating the abdication of feeling. Although it seems to imply value-neutrality, that misses the point; it's not so much that something is neither good nor bad, but rather that its quality simply isn't relevant, that it's not worth the energy to make a value judgment. To put it another way — it doesn't matter what you think about it because you can't do anything about it anyway. It was in this spirit that Al Gore invoked the phrase after winning the popular vote and possibly the electoral tally as well: "I strongly disagreed with the Supreme Court decision and the way in which they interpreted and applied the law. But I respect the rule of law, so it is what it is."

The world is the way it is because of poverty, greed, hate, and religion. They are parts of human nature that unfortunately, I don't think will change easily. This world is a sociological experiment on a grand scale, and as long as each person does their part to make things around them right and good, you pass. Don't focus on the world, focus on you and your surroundings. Find a cause that you feel strongly about, and advocate. Every little bit helps, ad if each person can put in a teeny amount of effort, I think the world can be a more beautiful place

The world is exactly the way we allow it to be. To pose this question is to take the blame away from us as if there were some force in the ether that decided to make the world stink and human life baneful, just for the heck of it.
People are poor because people are greedy. People are sad because people are mean. People die because people kill. That is how the world works. If we want utopia we have to work for it, but we can't sit around and expect it to pop out of the bushes...

Because everyone is born with a sinful nature... and the sins that the people in this world have done over the years are slowly making this world worse. Sins are only fun for a season... then you have to live with the consequences.

The world is the way it is because there has been a large shift in power from parents to their children. Respect and manners are a lost art on the coming generations. Rights are confused with privileges.

The world is the way it is because we-that is to say the majority of humanity- let it get the way it is. We let our children tell us what to do because it is too inconvenient to teach them respect and manners. We let directors and producers put out movies that are violent and degenerating and then allow children to watch them. We do not hold up a high enough standard of education. We allow the greedy, selfish, self centered cowards to gain the power to tell us what to do. Our philosophy seems to be, "I don't have time right now, I'll get to it later," but later never seems to come and things keep going downhill. I feel sorry for my future grandchildren!
