Um. Well ProActive didn't work for me. I went to a dermatologist and was prescribed antibiotics. It really depends on if you want to put a lot of time into making it better.

I judt use Clean & Clear Persagel 10. It's about $4, and works good enough for me. It contains 10% benzoyle peroxide. I can't use anything that has salicylic acid in it because it makes my face very oily, and I break out really bad as a result. Just don't wash your face too much, or use too much acne mecication on your face because it can actually make your acne much worse. When your face loses oil from over cleansing and over use of acne products, it actually starts to produce even more oil to replace what it's losing and throws your natural oil prodution off balance, causing you to breakout even more. I didn't believe this until I had broke out pretty bad and started washing my face alot.

I use the Clear Skin Regimen at http://www.acne.org. It's a non-profit (so it's free), the guy who created used to suffer from pimples himself. The system works wonders on my face, and its helped countless other people. The best part is that you don't have to order or buy any expensive treatments, everything you need for the Regimen can be found at your local drugstore. Find out more at the website.
In general, for clear skin it helps if you: don't touch/pick at your skin, drink lots of water, wash your hair frequently, change your pillowcases, exercise, wear little make-up (or if needed, hypo-allergenic makeup), and minimize stress.
Another important tip is to look up online consumer reviews of acne products before you buy them, using sites like epinions.com or drugstore.com. A great website I use to get cosmetic reviews is makeupalley.com (A mostly women's site). Researching the effectiveness of products helped me a lot in my battle against blemishes. Hope this helps!

I've dealt with "sorta bad" acne since I was around 12... so for half my life. Proactive never really worked for me. I found the only things that work cost money - like Differin (with salicylic acid) and Retin A (with god only knows what). Prescriptions are the way to go. If you can't afford that, go for a cleanser with salicylic acid in it, and use something gentle to exfoliate every once in a while.

It sounds strange, but it really works. Tooth paste, don't smear it around, just dab it on each blemish before bed and wash it off in the morning, your blemishes will be less red and smaller, REALLY! Also use an oil free, oil absorbing lotion this will help with the prevention of clogging pores.

I just found something at wal-mart, It is only 1.86. It is equate brand medicated acne gel, it is a small box in the facial treatment section. I was so surprised of the results, Only use as directed, I put it on to many times in a day and dried my skin out. My face is so smooth, please try it.

Rubbing alcohol, three times a day for a week (unless it's real bad, then two weeks), then once in morning and before bed. Wash and pat dry your face first then dab alcohol on with cotton balls, till no dirt is visible on cotton. You can get alcohol for .50 cents and cotton balls for less than a dollar! And it really does work!
