it takes just as much if not more gas starting and stopping it, it will also cause extra wear on your vehicle so you will have to pay more for repairs more often. it is also dangerous because what if someone is coming up behind you at a high rate of speed if you had you car running you might have been able to get out of the way but with it off you get in an accident. by having to turn it back on every time the light turns green can cause someone to rear end you because they are expecting to be able to go when it turn green but they are stuck behind you because you have to restart you car. not a good idea

It's rather pointless.
what happens if your car won't start back up because your battery is to low to crank the engine from constantly having been shut down, driven less than .1 miles and started again? Plus worse, the excessive wear & tear on the starter and pretty much the engine because the oil that's on the upper side of the motor now has to be repumped up there.
Also, it doesn't save gas on average. If you're stuck in traffic due to an accident where you won't be moving for a while, yeah, turn the engine off. otherwise, when traffic moves, and you don, you get the horns blaring at you.

No, it's not beneficial. Yes it takes more gas for starting.. because the car requires a lot of work to get started up. Same with turning on your computer, it uses more energy, but the work becomes constant when it's left running.

Are you kidding? Don't make the people behind you wait while you restart your car. That's one of the dumbest things I have ever heard! And, by the way, it would waste more gas.

Well.
It is beneficial to turn off car if waiting time on Red light is more than 2-3 min.
Cost benefit Analysis:
As it consume more fuel & power to start a car. so it is beneficial if you keep ignition on when wait time is less than 2 min.

No, this would be a silly waste of time and will kill your battery and starter. The savings, if any, would be negligible.
Don't trip over dollars to save pennies!
If you REALLY want to save...
Tune up your car
Check your tire pressure
Make sure your air cleaner is clean
Don't make rabbit starts and drift to red lights instead of
maintaining speed and braking at the last minute
Ride your bike
Etc, etc, etc.

I'm told that it takes more gas to start than it does to idle.
You would also increase wear and tear on your ingition system, including the starter, which ain't cheap, as well as a/c , steering and alternator.

HELL no. You'll slow traffic & ruin your starter & battery to boot. It usually takes as much gas to start the car as it does to leave it idling for five minutes.
