No they were not clones. If you read the books it is very clear. The empire uses a forced draft and brainwashes people to form thier mindles completly controlable storm troopers.

In episodes 1-3 the storm troopers were clones. It's unclear in episodes 4-6 if they're clones. Lucas did remake episodes 4-6, they were released before episode 1.

I think the whole clone thing was a cheap afterthought.
I think every copy of episodes I II and III should be destroyed and Lucas should not be allowed to do Star Wars movies anymore.

Yes, the storm troopers are clones-- at least that is the implication. Although, I would imagine that the copies are getting old. The officers are not, and that is what the Imperial Academy was for-- training officers.

Zippo is correct. In fact, if you read the later books you'll find that the Empire would recruit orphans and run aways.
As for the cloning stations...anyone remember the Jorus C'boath clone?

Im showing my geekeness but no, in the later episodes they werent, only during the clonewars were teh stormtroopers clones. In on of the books the reason was given why the cloneing technolgy was hidden away.

I agree with the second comment :)
How ridiculous was Return of the Sith??
At the end, when Anakin is burnt, I couldn't watch!!!
{I was laughing too hard}
I was very disappointed because SW is one of my fav movies of all time. Lucas should have left it there. Oh well....
