It's possible. Mary, Queen of Scots, had a son, James, who inherited the throne of Great Britain from Elizabeth I when she died. From there, the family branched out widely. Head for your nearest library, and get a book on the geneology of the royals. It will show you the direct lineage, and you may be able to backtrack on the some the branches that were dropped because they were too far from the main stem.
Does this mean we have to bow when you come on line?
Good luck -- it's a fun thing to research!

If she's been researching this for awhile, then she should already be able to show the link. The Church of Latter Day Saints (Mormons) have the world's largest repository of ancestral records. They have a main archive building you can go to across from Temple Square in Salt Lake City UT or any of the smaller branches that have archival libraries. You can search on microfiche or if they don't have what you need, they can order it from the main archives in Utah. Somewhere near Salt Lake City, they carved out the inside of a huge granite mountain and that is where all the main records are kept.

We've got the exact same family legend. I think it would be impossible to prove, given all the bastard children many of the kings had. I'm sure neither one of us were official, or we'd have all sorts of titles.
