Click start, then click on My Network Places. Then on the left hand side clikc View My Network Connections. Then right click on the wireless icon. Find your connection in the box that lists all the connections. Double click on it and it should bring up a box. On that screen should be the box for the network key and the confirm network key.

Without knowing the specific wireless device you are using it is difficult to give you specifics. However, you can do the following usings a computer that is hard wired to the wireless access point or your network.

Using your web browser you need to enter the IP address of your wireless access device. This is probably 192.168.1.1, unless you or Verizon set it to something different. It will prompt you for a password. If you changed it you will need that otherwise the default is probably "admin".

Now that youare in the web interface of the wireless device find the tab that talks about wireless. Therer might be a sub tab for the security. This is where you want to be. You want to turn on either WEP 128Bit or WPA encryption. If the optoin for WPA is there and on available on the laptop you are using that is the best selection. You will also need to enter a passphrase to create the encryption key, this is case sensitive. Write down the passphrase and the resultant encryption key (if using WEP). You will need this information for the wireless card in the laptop. Save the settings to the wireless access point.

On the laptop you will need top open the wireless card configuration utility or connection settings. Here you enter either the passphrase or the encryption key sequence.

This encryptions you wireless network and while other might find you network without the encryption key they can't use it.

Once this conncetion is working you can go back into the wireless access point and also turn off the SSID broadcast. Thus others will not be able to find your wireless network without you telling them.

Assuming that Verizon have given you access to the router (generally through a web interface at a 192.... address) you'll need to setup wireless security. You may need to contact them for the details
I don't recommend using WEP for anything other than simple domestic installations, it's too easily "broken". WAP is more secure, and MAC filtering is better yet.
If you're not sure how to set up the router, drop me a line and I'll give you some pointers... but don't fool with it on your own if you're not sure :-)

Turn your SSID off, Enable WPA @128-bit, filter MAC address and tell the dhcp (router) to release only one i.p. address.

You might find that hard to do. I would just turn it off when you are not using it. They can't access it if it's off.

Hope that helps.
