yes because the heart is still beating. I have seen a lamb being cut and they cut its head off and it was lying down and its legs were kicking. But yes, chickens can also run around with their head chopped off, there is a vein that must be cut off so the chicken does not stay alive for a long time. Check out that headless chicken on guinness world records. It said the man just missed the vein so it stayed alive for 18 months. But sadly, it passed away by choking.

I am sorry to say that, yes, a chicken can flop around after it's head is removed. When I was a kid I happened upon my mother and a nighhbor lady doing in a chicken and witnessed the aftermath.

Not pretty either, might I tell you!! Yes, a chicken will run around a long time after it's head is chopped off.

Yes, believe it or not in one of my classes in 7th or 8th grade the teacher brought a live chicken to school. The boys argued who got to chop its head off then it ran around the room and then the teacher made us eat chicken soup.

BTW I am in my 30's now but I still remember this so yes it is definitely true.

Yes, and actually I've got an iteresting story to go with the topic. Mygrandpa and his friend were culling a few hens who were past thier great egg- laying stage. There was one chicken left to cull and in the middle of the neck the axe broke and the hen ran around in circles with her neck cut half way through and hanging to the side for three hours before it finally died.

Yes - but its just nerve endings reacting. The chicken feels no pain - in order to feel pain it would have to be attached to its brain...
