Crossover

Thats the kind of cable you will need to set up a network between 2 Computer without a Router...this is also good for sharing between 2 computers connected directly..

after that is done...you will need to set up Both of your computers to enable File and Printer Sharing and Internet sharing.../

Anyway, connecting computers can be done many, many ways. It can be done via Parallel or Serial cables, USB or Firewire cables, Wireless or Bluetooth, Network or crossover cables. It will depend on what both computers have in common, what cables you have or are willing to buy, what software you have or are willing to buy and what budget you're willing to work with. I remember working with DOS Interlnk for transferring files back in the day over parallel port. Laplink made that much easier to setup and use. PcAnywhere also does the file transfer over many different types of connections too.

If you're just wanting to do 2 computers, and will have no real need for more later on, your best bet is the network/crossover cable method.

Yes. If you have an ethernet or NIC card on both computers you can use a CrossOver cable to directly connect one computer to another. Or if the both have a parallel port, like for a printer, then you can get a parallel port cable to them both. The parallel connection will be much slower for things like file transfers.

You can do it with a parallel connection. You need what they call an LPT cable that connects to the printer ports -- then you have to use either a 3rd party software like Laplink or MSoft's one that comes with Windows.

Best way is through a CAT5 "crossover" cable that you can get at your local Staples, Office Max, etc. this way you can have the laptops in the same workgroup and simply share resources between them.

yes. u jus need to have an ethernet card installed on each laptop, then a catv5/crossover cable (similar to a telephone cable, but bigger) connecting them together! This method is most reliable and establishses a fast connection!

be certain the WiFi card is grew to become off Double verify the fee of the relationship (one hundred Mbps vs one thousand) I extremely have discovered that despite if the Ethernet is plugged in, a workstation will normally use the Wifi over the cord. Turning off the Wifi card on the workstation solves that. that's commonly the fn key and one among the different keys with a photo of a radio tower on it pushed on a similar time.
