Wouldn't this enable them to perform marriages that the government can't touch?

Here in America, we have about eighty gazillion religions that were all started because of someone not being able to live by the rules of their previous one. (I like to refer to them as American Designer Religions, A God for Anyone's Outlook).

I need to add, this is not intended to offend or be sarcastic humor ( like most of my questions).
This is a sincere question.

I think this is a great question. I, in fact, have created my own religion. It's called Oprah-Mor-Budish-ism. It's my own little combo of never missing a syllable from Oprah's mouth, Mormonism (I figure if they can make up such a big 'ol bag of bullshit, why can't I?) Buddism, and Judaism. In my religion it is an abomination for a man to lie with a woman but we do stress "tolerance". In other words we "tolerate" hetero's but we're not happy about it. Other than that we generally follow all of Oprah's principles and throw in a healthy dose of fashion, nightlife and cocktails. Voila! Religion.

Are any of the gazillion religions really a religion you can take seriously? And wiuldn't this just be another one not to be taken serious??? Religion is not something that sould be taken lightly. And the idea of worhiping someone or something just cause you made it up in this day and age is just dangerous. Lets stick to our father in heaven, and get more people to start trusting in that again rather than making a mockery of it. This is why life is so hard now.

There are several religions that bless same-sex unions. You have the popular misconception that the legal marriage that is so heavily debated right now has ANYTHING to do with religious marriage. When straight people get "married", the legal portion doesn't happen during the ceremony. The ceremony's nice, and that might be when the official spiritual union happens etc., but the signing of the certificate and such is the legal portion.

There are quite a few gay and gay-friendly churches, including Metropolitan Community and Unitarian Churches.

The problem is not religion, it is government.

They could not legally perform marriages in the US, because marriage is a Civil Union and mut be sanctioned by the government.

certainly i think of they could desire to in basic terms do something different, like Christians understand that homosexuals are forbidden via god and whilst a **** tries to get married in a Christian church it like a **** you to god and his followers, in the event that they have been given married someplace else different than church homes then its ok. this finished gay rights element must be allowed, comparable element with weed, it doesnt kill anybody and yet its unlawful, in the event that they arent hurting absolutely everyone and that they are forced to marry the different intercourse or no longer get married in any respect, united statesa. is the land of the unfastened the place you're able to be your self and not something will ensue to you, yet what's faulty with being happy? which fits out back to weed, it makes you experience reliable and takes certainty faraway from you and you experience reliable for a on a similar time as, so why say no to it

Because they are free to worship how and who ever they choose. An new religion is hardly necessary. There is SUPPOSE to be a separation of Church and state but only when America needs to co sign a point. It's simply pulled out when convenient.

The Metropolitan Community Church is predominately homosexual and started by homosexuals, fairly wide spread across the country and been around for a long time. There are also many "traditional denominations" that are accepting of gays.
