Actually Jedimaster, I must disagree with you. The post you made, from what I can tell, is based up videogames such as KOTOR.
The traditional view is green represents Jedi who believe in the livingForce & blue for those who believe in the unifying Force.
Now beyond that...alot of it is just whatever the person wants. I've read many of the books and alot of times Jedi don't honestly know the color of their lightsaber untill they turn it on. You must also take into account that lightsabers can have multiple crystals in them (I might be wrong, but I think Gantorus built his like that with instruction from the spirit of Exar Kun on Yavin 4) which aside from allowing the Jedi to manipulate the length of the blade, can also give the blade multiple color shades.

Were it not physically impossible, I'd say black. Since black is the absence of light, having a black-bladed lightsaber would not be feasible, so I'd probably try for something of a deep, midnight blue color.

The initial colour of the blade is supposed to reflect what kind of Jedi you are... Jedi Sentinels (the ones who actively pursue evil) get blue, Guardians (who stand and fight) get green, Consulars (the more diplomatic of the three) get yellow, and Sith get red (obviously).
That said, I'd probably wind up with a blue one.
