You can. That is a very old-fashioned rule. Labor day signaled the official end of summer for the fashion world and true white white was worn only in the summer. Back then your purse and shoes must match as well. You always changed your purse to match your outfit. No one had just one purse for everyday. These days fashion is more eclectic and more relaxed. Style has become a more personal choice rather than a dictated mandate from designers.

That is such a silly oldfashioned rule of dress. labor day is the first monday in sept i think and considered the official end of summer, and it was a rule for the united states area as labor day is our holiday. No one else has to live by that rule and few people here pay much attention to it now. Back in the day when Leticia Baldridge ran the world of good manners in this country, say from the 40s through the 70s there were all those silly rules, like women didnt go out without a hat and white gloves, high heels and a string of pearls. that hardly would matter in average american life now. We arent all a bunch of Jackie Kennedy clones anymore.

Labor Day is the first monday in September.
And it is basically an old time thing that you don't wear white after labor day as in Cold Climates, it tends to become winter Thus, Mud, etc... However, I am A Clothing Designer in Las Vegas, Nevada U.S.A. Here you can wear whatever you want whenever you want... LOL but, that is basically the fashion industries standard as to coloring for the seasons... Labor day is the end of Summer...

In the 'olden' days fashion connoisseurs advised against wearing white after Labor Day. Today however, winter white and other off-white colors are gradually gaining acceptance as a fall and winter fashion staple. Not wearing white after Labor Day is an outdated fashion trend. This year its September 4th its usually the first monday in september.

Labor day is a first week of September. I don't think that white after Labor day is inappropriate, just look at run ways... Originally, though, tradition was based on amount of mud on the streets and difficulties of washing your closes before modern washers and especially dryers. So, go ahead, wear whites when you want them at any season you want them.

Labor Day is the first Monday in September. You can wear white any time you want...its just one of those outdated fashion rules....I think the fashion industry made it up as some sort of plot to get us to buy fall clothes even though it is still wait to hot to wear them at that time of year!
