My daughter (11 years old) received two nominations for this program. It would have involved her going to Australia for one and Washington DC for another! I think a teacher nominates good students after being asked to do so by the organization. It probably would be a beneficial experience BUT you have to pay a very hefty price (around $5000 for the Australian trip and $2000 or so for the Washington trip) and there's no way I would have let her go without me or her father so there's another $5000 or $2000. In the end, I feel it's an expensive way to get something impressive-sounding on a resume. Perhaps, if she's nominated when she's older and can earn money or fund-raise in order to participate, I would reconsider it.
