I wish the match Italy vs Australia had gone overtime. So we would really know who should be in the quarterfinals right now. The truth is you can't be 100% sure that Australia would have won. Yeah, they were hoping to go overtime (that's why they were so slow) because Italy were down one man and therefore more vulnerable/tired. But what if the game had still ended with a tie?
Penalty shootouts are just a question of luck. Even Shevchenko, who won a Golden Ball as Europe's best player, missed one. At least Italy had Buffon who might have saved them. So, who knows...
Having said so, in 1994 Italy and Brazil both made the final. Brazil beat Italy 3-2 in a penalty shootout after the game and extra time ended 0-0.
Both teams are good, but at the moment Brazil is stronger. Italy has a good defense, but Brazil has Ronaldo, Kaka, Adriano, Ronaldinho, people who score (although during this World Cup Ronaldinho hasn't shone yet).
I'm an Italy fan, but not blind... at least not as blind as the referee in the Italy vs Australia game lol. He's the only culprit (many players in many other teams dive) so blame him. And if you still think that the Italian team bribed him, then all the referees in other games involving controversial fouls/penalties/offside goals were bribed too, and the entire World Cup is nothing but a scam.

Sorry ForzaItalia... but Brazil is the better team! The have far more talented individuals, every player is capable of putting the ball in the back of the net while only a few Italian players are relied on to score goals.
The Brazilian creativity is a spectacle to watch. They are incredible controllers of the ball and are geniuses when it comes to distribution.
The Italians are better defensively and in goal. But Brazil's force up front make them the most dangerous team in the world. A re-match of the 2002 World Cup should be a dandy... Germany 3 Brazil 2.

ITALY for me personally!
Italy may not play all attack only football, but for those few like myself who appreciate the beauty of classic defending intertwined with effective attacking, there is simply no team better!
The likes of Zambrotta, Nesta, Cannavaro and Buffon are seldom showered the praise they deserve while mediorce attackers like Adriano are put on pedestals!
Don't get me wrong Brazil have some fantastic individuals, noone could knock a player of the skill and poise of Kaka but i would put my vote down for the Italians.
They too have some flamboyantly gifted attackers like Del Piero and Totti!
Then looking back at all time greats, Paolo Maldini is the greatest defender with Roberto Baggio the greatest attacker i have ever seen play! So it's pretty much hands down Italy for the I!

Brazil...they don't just play soccer, they breathe soccer. If any of you have ever watched Brazil play, they have such a free flowing, purposeful game. It's not about fouling the opposite team or tripping or whatever...it's about pure skill and style on the field. For that, there is no question about it that Brazil is the better team!

Brazil, they can play to anyones abilitly yea they havent "looked" that good in this world cup because they play to other teams ability they can easily dominate every game. France is good but there no match against a powerhouse like Brazil. Both teams can score but Brazil can score at anytime from anywhere on the pitch it seems like,

Brazil 100% because Italy is the most defensive and need I mention... yawn.. borin to watch team. Like going to watch a soap opera with your girlfriend...only you don't want to be there.

With out any doubt Brazil.That is b/ce Brazil has more skillful players than Italy.Almost all brazilian players have the ability to score goal.
