I think one of the biggest industries that are affected by the economy would be travel...places like Florida could possibly fall into financial ruin if the economy falls to a point where people don't have the money to go on vacation.

there are three 'industries' that will never lack for business: gambling, prostitution, and anything involve in alcohol. these three things are considered even greater than most other things needed. in most cases those things are going to prosper even if people cannot afford food. you only have to notice how social workers search the projects.

i think also shopping as a relaxation (designer clothes and the like) is greatly affected by how much money is availabe among the general public

high gas prices effects everything, people dont travel as much, the price of airline tickets and so on are up, the prices of everything you buy are raised due to shipping prices raised over fuel costs. People dont buy as many cars, and they might be trying to sell larger suv's and trucks to get smaller cars. the interest rates are going up so housing starts are down as that raises the price of buying a home. heating, cooling, lights, are all more expensive. simply everything is effected in some way.
