When my two children were really little, we engaged in the whole Christmas shebang: we went to the forest to cut a real tree, we put a train underneath the tree, we decorated inside and out with thousands of lights, we had an Advent wreathe, we colored Christmas pictures, we took a special Christmas picture for the cards, we hunted around for Santa's elves (who left clues that they were nearby), we baked and decorated cookies, we wrapped our special gifts, we hung stocking (even for the dog), and we went to Christmas Eve Mass. Best of all, I had borrowed a camcorder and got the two little angels talking about it all while sitting in little rocking chairs in their blanket sleepers holding their favorite stuffed animals on Christmas Eve. Then I set it up and let it run for hours and hours Christmas morning. Now that was priceless.

My fondest Xmas memory is the Christmas of 1992. I am really big on family coming over to celebrate but sometimes you have the ones who just dont wanna cooperate, but that year was the best because we had at least 40 people at our then-brand-new house! Family, friends of family, friends all came over to eat, drink & be merry as they say. That was our first year hosting the family gathering, since it was always at my aunts house. Call it a sign from God or coincidence, but there was a reason for all those people being there: my dad died suddenly the following June (1993) so he never got to see Xmas 1993 but I just found it to be a blessing that we had SOOO many people at our house the year before. People that we hadnt seen in a few years even stopped by or at least called. Unfortunately we havent had that big of a turn-out since then but Im glad to have that memory.

My fondest memory of Christmas was when my sisters and I heard my dad tell my mom that he loved her more then anyone in the world. This was special because they were separated for a long time. My mom and dad were married for over 60 years until my dad died 5 years ago.

I remember the first year my mother told us about the "Magic Christmas Garden". I was about 7 years old. She put together the magic seed mixture, which were dried beans, crushed peppermint candy, red and silver glitter, and a dash of sugar..then had us to go sprinkle it in her flower garden beside our front porch. She then turned the soil and told us that on Christmas Day..we could come out and find that our garden had grown.
That Christmas Day..to our amazement..there were large lollypops and other goodies dangling from painted wire stems, a small decorated tree with other goodies attached. I never forgot that garden. It was a tradition for years!

My fondest memory has to be when I was around 10 and my brother was around 13. He came running through the house to wake me and didn't know a chair had been pulled out in the walkway. Needless to say he had a big tumble!

When I was about 7 years old,I went to see my friends that lived next door in a tiny apartment, and it was Christmas Eve.Their mother took me aside and whispered,"Don't tell Paula and Michelle that it's Christmas because Santa isn't coming to our house".I ran home and cried to my parents not understanding why.I prayed until I fell asleep that God would find Santa and tell him about my friends. The next morning,I went to their apartment and found that God really did find Santa for my friends. They had toys and a tree and stockings with candy. When I was older I found out that it was my parents that played Santa for them, and it made their Christmas pretty special too.

Getting my original Nintendo System (old school). I was 5 and my mom and dad hid it behind the chair and acted like they just found it and it was trash...not just the present, but being a kid on christmas morning! ah, those were the days.

I don't know exactly, but one of my favorite gifts was a bag of toys that were donated from a local church when my family was poor. I also loved going to my grandmas house and having a big family dinner and gift exchange... my aunts and uncles were always so thoughtful and bought so many gifts. It made me feel good, no matter how many gifts everyone else got.
