Sounds like someone was supposed to go to the movies and didn't go! :) Long story short... girl writes guy... guy writes girl... guy is in 2004... girl is in 2006... they fall in love... girl breaks it off because of time difference... guy is heartbroken... tries to find girl in 2006... gets himself killed... girl finds out and writes him to tell him... it works, he doesn't die and they meet up in the end. They kiss. The end. Hope that helps! :)

And just for the record, Keanu Reeves does say "Whoa" in this movie.
He says "whoa" in all his movies. Its a fun thing to look for when watching a Keanu Reeves movie.

Spoiler: He's dead.... he gets hit by her train in 2006. But... no worries happy ending.
HOWEVER IT IS VERY CONFUSING
if you like movies with magic mailboxes, you'll like it.

I will tell you that it's confusing and doesn't actually make any sense in any sort of way...the guy both lives and dies in it...i dunno, my head is still spinning from it
