I just did a typical restore on my computer and my pictures seem to gone. Is there any way to retrieve them?

If you did a full system restore they are gone. I feel your pain. I lost mine just last week. You can only retrieve pictures and or personal files if you use the transfer wizard before you restore or manually save them. You can however use a restore POINT and not lose your files.
