On your Avatars home page there is a space at the bottom of the page that has for you to mark male or female.

lol i alwayz wanted to kno this so i could dress up a guy avatar and see what clothes and accesories guys have to choose from lol yea change urself into a male in the basic info

you have to go into your acct info and change yourself from female to male
