Is it very rude to call your girlfriends or the people you are gathering with "chicks" or "birds" or some of the names you may know but I can't think of here?

How do girls feel if they are branded as chicks or pussycats?

pussycats is inappropriate, chicks is funny - but probably not around women. I am not familiar with "birds" - that is a different region thing.

Well, they are quite old fashioned phrases, so I would find them a bit odd. And whilst I wouldn't be hugely offended I wouldn't really take it as a compliment. Its generally best to refer to girls by their names, unless talking about them collectively, in which case you would just say girls... or laydees, depending on how much you think you can get away with!

I love it when my husband calls me 'honey' but I'd be less impressed if some of his make friends called me that. 'Chick', I have no problem with but don't like 'bird'. That's just my personal preference. I prefer to be called by my name!

It's down to the person. I find if they get upset by those words, it's you they don't like
