why does so much music on the top 40 stations stink?

Oh, most definitely. Top 40 radio is honestly the scourge of mankind. I also can't stand "Promiscuous" by Nelly Furtado. Any pop culture crap basically sucks. Also, NICK LACHEY really pisses me off. What mindless, shameless "music" aimed at pre-teen girls who are in love with him. Will coroporate monopoly never cease?

In the entertainment business the public gets what is wants. So guess what floats to the top? It is a four letter word. Crap. There is a solution to the problem. Don't listen. Get some Cd's of music written before 1960. I am sure you will hear and feel the difference. If not, oh well. I suppose it is getting more difficult as time goes on to break away from the crowd.

Because music sold out after the 70's. Stations don't take chances anymore & play from "approved" playlists. People have been conditioned that "C*rap is king", and whiny voices, awful lyrics and bad guitar riffs are cool.

Any songs that are "hot", are usually anything but. So little talent now is required to be a star and make a ton of money. That's what pisses me off.

Stop listening and radio stations will stop playing. Guaranteed!!! Once the ratings sink enough, the format will change, and a whole lot of equally "stinky" but different formatted songs will appear. Note: In reality, the songs you hear are actually "bumps" for COMMERCIALS!!! That is the ONLY reason radio exists. If advertisers didn't feel they were getting their money's worth, radio stations wouldn't play that "stinky" stuff. Stop supporting station advertisers on stations you DON'T like. Simple.

Because the top 40 is usually based on what sells and what songs are requested most and lets face it teenagers buy more cds than adults because they are living at home with no bills to pay so that is what they spend their money on and they are the only ones who will call in and request songs (most of the time)!! The song that pisses me off the most is boulvard by green day i liked when i first heard it but they have played that damnn song so much i hate it and starting to hate greenday.

Okay, people listen to anything on the radio. Most people that listen to only what`s on the radio, and on MTV are complete idiots. Because they`re complete idiots, their "music" is completely idiotic. Take for example rap. I can`t stand Grillz, or anything by Paul Wall. The Pussycat Dolls make me throw up, and the song Promiscuous by Nelly Furtado, and Timbaland is just flat out stupid. Remember if you only listen to what`s on the radio, and on MTV you are doomed.

The top 40 mostly need to be broad-appeal, mass-market tripe. Kind of like the MacDonald's of music. Real music aficionados tend to prefer more specialized music of a higher quality, but the genres are far more diverse and specific to individually hold a "mass market" appeal.
