It is an interesting point, if a little simplistic. Surely, regard for life extends beyond human life.
However, the value of a human life is greater than that of an ant, so it is hard to compare the two.
Abortion, however, isn't about murder, it's about choice.

Maggie Girl, You have excellent insight. Most of what you hear regarding abortion in the answers above are simply lies designed to hurt and confuse you. God invented abortion and is the author of the Bible that says that you are right and they are wrong.
For those who are misleading maggie,I can explain abortion. But I cannot explain it to a Dog, Cat, or closed mind.
God is the inventor of abortion. Presumably God uses miscarriage as abortion to expel from a woman's body a fetus that he chooses not to bring to term. God does this service for all animals, not just humans. And God loves these animals and man when he chooses to abort their fetus. For man, God is capable of giving eternal life in exchange for any child, fetus or man that he takes. This is his eternal love for us.
God arranged things such that no man lives longer than 150 years, then his time is up and he is also offered eternal life. So God offers eternal spiritual life in exchange for death.
And God chooses which fetuses will be aborted. God has infinite power and can choose to eliminate the possibility of abortion and force the birth of any child he chooses. He does this with other animals and he states in the Bible that he is an all powerful God. He is that powerful.
If you abort a child that God wants to live, he can simply transfer that life to another person. It does not mean when you made a wrong choice or that God must live with that Choice. I don't think God would allow the next coming to be stopped by an abortion that he condones.
Can a person commit an abortion against God's will? Yes. And it would be sin committed under our Free Will.
Evidence shows that many miscarried fetuses are malformed. And others are perfect. So we know that God does not use simply malformation as the basis for abortion. God must use other information. For example, God may know that a person is simply not ready for a child. Or the person may not be able to support a child. Or the child may have been born out of wedlock. Or that another person should raise the soul that he has placed in one person. And there are thousands of other reasons that God may have chosen abortion or miscarriage. One thing is certain; God did not choose "life". Some of us will die before birth and for none of us will live after 150 years of living.
What God teaches through abortion is that there are reasons for man to have abortion. And in the long run God teaches that these reasons make the world a better place.
I believe that a person should pray to God if there is any chance that an abortion is needed for any of the reasons above, or no reason. If God says that it is right, then it cannot be wrong. And anyone that says otherwise is going against God's will. Simply ask yourself if all humans that were ever born were still here today, would the Earth be a better place. I think not. Death is a part of God's plan and it makes his Kingdom a better place. As does eternal life for those who have served God’s purpose.
I hope that you are able to understand the need and purpose of abortion and will not fall into the beliefs of the false prophets that preach the Pro-Life anti God line.
If you have more questions please ask.

In the beginning, God gave man dominion over the fish of the sea, the birds of the air, the beasts of the field, and over every creeping thing. He DID NOT give man dominion over men (other humans). Also, man was created in the image and likeness of God, and is far more valuable to God than any animal or insect. It is not murder to step on the centipede heading for your face, but it is murder to kill a baby. Before you think I am just a bible-thumping radical (which I AM) - check this out: I HAD AN ABORTION BEFORE I KNEW THE TRUTH. And I can tell you that it is defintely murder. You'd best read Proverbs 6: 16 -19 in the King James Bible. Try to tell the God that created YOU that it is not murder. Don't tell me. Tell Him. Not me. Him. Not your friend. Him. Go on, tell Him.
While it is true that a woman has a right to do as she wishes with her own body, SHE DOES NOT HAVE A RIGHT TO DO AS SHE WISHES WITH SOMEONE ELSE'S BODY. The baby has a body. When was the last time you went to a "fetus shower?"
As for all of you ignorant foolish ones who say that the "fetus" is not alive, you are the same ignorant bunch that believe in evolution. Compare your protist to your "fetus." Whereas you do not believe that "life begins at conception" when it comes to human beings, you hypocritically believe that LIFE on planet earth started with a single cell (that was alive. Well, it would have to be alive to reproduce, right?).
We are indeed living in the last of the last days......................

Yes it is cos babies are human beings. Surely you can see the difference between killing a bug and killing a person?
As far as reproductive choice is concerned, many people would argue that the choice is made when the woman chooses to engage in the act of reproduction.
It also depends on where life begins, however, if life is thought to begin at implantation as opposed to coneption, then things like preimplantation genetic diagnosis and the morning after pill etc are allowed, which seems to be sensible.

This is a difficult one.
While it is by no means the same, it is still hard.
I think the whole abortion thing really needs to be judged on a case by case basis.
its different when a 16 year old who is litterally an a+ student gets drunk and has a night of funn (a mistake by the way) than when some 16 year old slu+ isn't eaven shure about the dad.
its also different when having a baby could risk the womans health.
Like i said, this is a unique subjet that should be based on a case by case basis.

Valid point. A purist would hate to step on an ant as much as to kill a baby. Me, I could never have an abortion, killing a baby is a horrible thought to me. I try not to kill bugs either, but the fact that I do, makes me hipocritical. Good point.

Why must we justify murdering Humans? Humans are not bugs or cats or anything else. The bible says "We" have dominion over animals. They are not on our level. If they were they would own homes and pay taxes. Babies are human. Not rat, Not mice, Not beetles, Humans. We are of more importance than an animal. Animals don't go to heaven ,People do.

No, I don't think it is any different. (and the same goes for eating meat, that also stops a beating heart) But humans tend to think of themselves as superior to other beings. And as far as abortion goes....can u kill something that is not alive yet? Being alive consists of breathing air and living outside your host, can a 12-wk old fetus do either of those functions?

in principle the killing of any living organism is "murder" - the question is therefore what is socially acceptable
personally i have no problems with abortion but other have major issues with it
on the other hand plenty of people support the death penalty and i don't
so, choose your own standards and live by them
