Wow, these folks really must like to spend money by giving you all of this advise. First....check for vaccum leaks. Then pull the vaccum line off of the EGR valve and plug the vaccum line with a screw. If that doesn't fix it...buy a fuel filter. That should fix your problem. If it doesn't, then you will be spending a little cash....just wanted to help you eliminate the easy stuff FIRST rather than starting with expensive crap that may or may not fix your problem.

Try this first, it is cheap and works almost all the time. Take the Air intake tube off at the throttle body hold the butterfly valve open all the way and spray Carburetor cleaner in it all around. You will see a lot on black fluid running out. If you need to use a clean rag or tooth brush to get all the build up out. By doing this you return the minimum air buy pass to the throttle body and wont need to mess with any factory settings..

Sounds as if there is an idle problem. If this is an older car, it is really a simple fix, but if the car has a computer control module, than it could be anything like a bad O2 sensor to injector problems. Need to know the Year and Make.

Sounds like a timing problem, however, if it is an older car it might just need a tune-up. A newer car, you will need a computer diagnostic to be sure, cause it could be something as simple as an O2 sensor.

It could be a lot of things, a vacuum leak, a bad TPS sensor, just needing a tune up, (new plugs and wires). If the rpms drop when you hit the brakes it might be a vacuum leak.

Change the oil and the RPM will go up especially in the summer. Add a thickener like STP or other thick synthetic oil for your own personal mixture. Drive it by my place and I can have a look.

500 is too low for a modern car. There could be various reasons it's too low. It could be a simple adjustment or more. Ask any guy who knows cars. he should know why.

Your car is trying to stall out due to too many things just to guess.. could be clogged fuel filter, bad spark plugs, fuell pump starting to go bad or even a alternator charging your battery just enough to start each time, you need to take it to a mechanic to get it diagnosed correctly
