it is never OK to do more than a spank on the behind however, age factors into it. your 2 are too old to get spanked. send them to their room if you think that you might hurt them, unfairly.
hitting or spanking a child out of anger and not punishment is abuse. let the punishment fit the crime.
do you want your kids to learn from their mistakes and why the mistakes were bad choices or do you want them to not do something because "daddy might spank me"?

Are you talking about beating or spanking? And what age of children? Beating someone is wrong. Though I see nothing wrong with a child getting a swat on the @ss if it become necessary. A mark should never be left though, it should fade away within minutes. Anything harder than that and you're pushing abuse. A "swat" on the butt is not the same as a beating.

No...I don't care if it's not harsh, it's wrong. It's abuse. Find another way to punish your kids, whether its taking away computer, TV, or video game time or sending them to their room for a long time, but never hurt, spank, or beat your kids. Beating and hurting are even against the law, you know. If you beat your kids, you can go to jail. And spanking just hurts your kids and they start to hate you. Find another way to punish them for whatever it is they do.

people in this world today dont know how to teach their kids a lesson, almost everyone who answered the question has said no but they gotta think about when ur kids become teenagers cuz thats when theyre gonna get in alot of trouble because they didnt get corrected when they were younger... so dont beat ur kids but spank them and punish them. if u dont then they'll probably end up in jail at 16 or 17 and call u at 3am to come get them out... if they do let them stay in there the whole nite and maybe they'll learn a lesson!

No you should not beat your children. Beating them is abuse. Spanking is a different story even though many people do not believe in it. Kids do need spanking to learn right from wrong. But not beatings.

As long as dad knows there is a fine line between discipline and abuse.
I have no second thoughts when it comes to disciplining my children, sometimes it seems like they have bricks for brains and a swat here and there always does the trick.
It takes one time to get to that point and I have never had to correct them on it again; been working for many years so I got to be doing something right!
Please notice, I said swat NOT beat!!

If you just mean a soft spank, you shouldn't use the word "beat". But, no, it is NOT ok and if I knew who you were I would report you to family services.

Beating is wrong.
Spanking as punishment is ok in some situations.
You should really have made your question a lot clearer.
