What is a matter with me? My period is not due till the middle of July, yet I am craving chocolate and having these horrible swing moods. Where I want to cry all the time, yet if someone does anything I wanna kill them. Can hormones be this messed up even when your period isnt due? And no I am not pregnant. Please give some advice what should I do?

First, they sound like symptoms of PMS, which can start when you begin ovulating. Ovulation usually starts on the 14th day of your cycle, counting the first day of your period as day 1. That means ovulation starts about 14 days before your next period begins - or right about now.

(Sidebar - for those of us who really suffer with PMS, that means we have 14 days of PMS, then 5 days of bleeding, then 9 whole days of being normal. No wonder we can be difficult.)

I've had a lot of luck taking an herbal remedy called Vitex (or Chastetree Berry). It comes in capsules at your local health food store. It doesn't work right away, and you have to take it every day, not just during PMS, but after a couple of months I was amazed at how much more calm and happy I was during the time I'd usually be snarling at people.

These symptoms can be from PMS or from depression to severe stress. I would talk to your doctor. Even if he feels that your symptoms are a combination of the above, there are anti-depressants which relieve the symptoms and are well worth taking. Doctors are usually really receptive to this honest kind of discussion, so go in with a positive attitude and get yourself some results!!!

Have you ever been tested for bi-polar or even something as simple as depression? I am bi=polar and your story sounds allot like my story. Having the cravings may also be a part of the depression. Allot of people who go through depression crave things and eat more to try to comfort themselves. I would recommend going to your doctor and asking about these things. Good Luck.

Dont worry for these cravings. Enjoy having your chocolates. This is happening in all women world over. So dont give a pittance for such feelings. Enjoy life at it comes.

Sometimes these symptoms show up when you're ovulating... 2 weeks before your period. Hopefully they won't last long. Maybe someone else knows of something soothing and herbal that would help...
