It's going to die when they no longer have the ability to connect with the youth around the world and the issues that are relevent to them. This is a genre that I observed from the start as I grew up in Brooklyn, New York and I have to say that I am both pleased and disheartened at the direction that it has taken. I remember all of the early pioneers of this genre before they were celebrities to mainstream music fans. Corey D, Mister T Terrible Ty, The Disco Twins, are names that most of you have probabaly never heard of. Yet they contributed as much to the growth of this genre as anyone today and maybe even more. These were artists that came from the ghettos and housing projects of the five boroughs of New York long before "The Sugarhill Gang", "Slick Rick", "Spoony G", and then my boy LL Cool J hit the radar. The spoken word is a powerful tool that has the ability to impact young minds to a degree that is very underestimated.
Another thing that has aided in the growth of this genre is the lack of originality in other forms of music. Once the P Diddys of the world fade away and the world DEMANDS the originality of yesteryear, then we will see what happens to rap music and if they have the staying power to adapt and thrive in a more demanding environment.
I don't like all that I hear, but some of it is agreeable and I think that the genre does have it's place. I see it growing in a more positive direction than the one it has taken. Even today as I frequent the types of events that harken back to the days of the "speakeasy" from what I hear, because I'm not that old. Most people remember these poetry slams from the movie "Love Jones", I see the genre moving into a direction that is far more socially conscious and "high brow" than what you are hearing today. If you can get with that, then you should look forward to what is to come. If not, I ain't gonna hate on you because it doesn't speak to your own personal experience and the struggles and experiences of the middle class don't engage you.
Differences of opinion are what make the world a beautiful place to be and while I respect your opinion and even understand your frustration to some degree, I still enjoy it and hope that someday you will be able to appreciate it for the voice it has given a previously unheard part of society.
I see that you enjoy Will Smith, that's interesting. I also see that you asked that blacks not respond in order to limit the ignorant responses to your post. Funny that you state "ignorant" when you want to toally discount the responses of a segment of society that is most impacted by the genre. Hmmmmm.... I guess you only wanted to see responses in support of your view. Now that's IGNORANT.
See you at the Source Awards!!!!! LOL

First off saying no black people will eliminate ignorant answers is very racist and very stupid. And second this "rap music phase" won't die as long as there are fans to buy the music. Got 2 cd cases full still adding to my collection. As long as people listen to any kind of music it'll stick around.

it will never die. Its the best, it's a dream that keeps young men and women hope that there is a job out there the can have, even if they dirt poor. They need to know how to play an insturment or sing, just be able to keep a flow. You dont even have to have a nice voice or good looks to be a rapper. Not to mention its not anti-christ like gothic music, at least rappers have a chance of going to heaven.
Why is after u said no black people cant answer, u put that it will leave out all the ignornant answer?

what type of rap? hip-hop is probably going to be around for a long time. Its has the advantage of being much more dynamic than rock country, or most other genres are. While rock and country are limited in the types of instruments they can use, hip-hop can be done with virtually any type of instrument in the world. More specific genres, like gangsta rap, are probably more of a passing fad, reflecting the social situation and values of the time. So my guess is, 20-30 years from now, don't expect for gangsta rap to still be around but the more general category of rap/hip-hop is dynamic enough to last at least that long.

Ha. Thas humorous GANGSTA. i imagine that you will be pushing the priority on him and frequently little ones insurrection what their father and mom are putting forward. attempt doing something that he enjoys so as that he can do an same with you. more advantageous than in all probability it really is an element or a thanks to precise himself.also it will be that he's a touch embarrased. in case you tried being emo, he would change. Please do not attempt to regulate him. Be loving and enable him do not ignore that you're supportive of him because intense college in itself can deliver about a lot rigidity. intense college is definetly a time the position youngsters favor their father and mom. it really is all as a lot as him. (you realize what you may want to also discover him a mentor (- an outstanding male functionality sort in something that he's fascinated in)

I hope it dies out soon. I was a big fan of 1990s rap, but it's been constantly going downhill since Puff Daddy changed the game after Biggie's death. That was almost 10 years ago.

lol. All the rap-lovers are flocking to this thread to hate on us. But I agree, rap music sucks and is just completely lame also. It'll only fade out when people realize the whole thing is just for show.
