Water it once a week only in the early morning and put only 1 inch of water on it. Place an empty container on the grass when you water and when there is 1 inch of water in the container you are done for the week. If you water any more than 1 inch the roots will have no incentive to grow and when it gets hot they will burn. Cut it high when you are done cutting there should be atleast 3 inches of grass left. Keep your blade sharp and fertilize 3 times a year and avoid chemicals.

well heat tends to burn grass so that's why its all yellow and brown looking, my bf works on a country club golf course and they have to keep the grass green two things you can fertilize it to keep the bugs and diseases off of it (yes grass gets diseases) and the other thing is on very hot days, keep it watered, if you cannot be around to water it, go to walmart and buy some cheap sprinklers that do not waste much water but will keep the grass from burning up and keep it GREEN

broadcast Ironite, most commercial fertilizers have it in it. You can purchase ironite by itself in a bag. I bought it at home depot. It wont make your grass grow, but it does help it green, I use it on my boxwood hedges too. I live in south Texas where rain hasnt been too good lately, but ,my yard is green.

Lime application just before a rain, will make your lawn green. Providing you don't have crabgrass, etc.
