My 90 300zx twin turbo is running really rich. It has had a used jspec motor put in with 30k on it. I was told by Nissan that there is high fuel pressure and fast injector pulse. They aslo said they couldnt communicate with the diagnostics on my computer. It has a perfomance ECU. It goes thru about a 1/4 tank of gas in 30miles, backfires in the first 3 gears, and runs really rough. Lacks power, but at higher speeds its not as bad, although goes thru gas alot still. The spark plugs and connectors were replaced Is the problem electrical? What is causing this? Please help!

On a fuel-injected vehicle, the computer regulates the amount of fuel coming out of each injector. (When you step on the gas pedal you're controlling the air flow, not the fuel flow. The gas pedal controls the airflow-the computer controls the fuel flow through each injector.) I would check the ECU to make sure it has the proper chipping(They make different chips for ECU's that control the amount of fuel) The performance ECU is chipped to put out too much fuel for the engine set-up you have. Check for an original ECU to match the motor because it's already chipped to put out the proper amt. of fuel for your vehicle. Hope this helps.

Your performance ECU is fried. I'd get another one. Maybe a pair....one factory and one performance. Stop driving it...you are going to glaze the cylinder walls and the only way to fix that is to hone them. It's throwing way to much fuel into the combustion chamber.
