Apparently the lactose (a sugar) in milk takes a heavy toll on your digestive systems efficiency.

Tell that to the billions of people who drank it throughout recorded history...

Milk is said to be bad for your health for a number of different reasons - everything from allergies to weight problems etc. It also plays a big role in childrens behavioural problems.

People tend to think that milk is the best form of calcium because of the media and how they were bought up.

However, because of the amount of protein it contains - the body is not able to digest it, and as a result, any protein or calcium in the milk goes to waste since the body cannot use it properly. The large amount of protein also causes blood imbalance, and as a result of high milk intake, the excess protein causes blood to extract calcium from the bones in order to balance out the protein and calcium levels. So it in fact helps cause osteoporosis instead of prevent it.

Also, breastmilk is the only form of milk that babies should be fed.

Who says it's bad for your health? It only has about 4% fat, which is not bad, and that's whole milk. It is an excellent source of calcium, good for bones and other things. Warm milk can help you get to sleep.

Milk nowadays has vitamin D added, and now that most of us avoid the sun, which is the only other way to get substantial amounts on vitamin D, that's good.

Adults who stopped drinking milk for a while, especially if they have taken a broad-spectrum antibiotic, may have lost the intestinal flora that allow their intestines to process milk and so get diarrhea. Eating live-culture yogurt will bring them back. Or you can eat the new stuff that has a lot of active yeast.

Milk from cows contains lactose, a sugar that humans originally weren't able to digest. People who are lactose intolerant haven't evolved yet to be able to digest this, and those of us who can aren't too efficient at it. Milk is made for the animal that it is made by, not for humans. The best kind of milk that you can drink is goat's milk. It doens't have lactose and is still very nutrious. Some peopel don't like the taste, but the only difference between the taste of cow's and goat's milk is that I think goat's milk has a bit of a nutty taste to it.

Cow's milk is not good for humans. Try soymilk instead. Mother nature did not intend for us to drink cows milk, it was man's stupid idea. The only reason that they say to drink milk is for the calcium, but an 8 oz serving only really has about 35% of the rda. There are plenty of natural foods that provide calcium. You could also try soymilk, it has calcium. Good sources of calcium are :

Leafy green vegetables – broccoli, collards, bok choy, Chinese cabbage and spinach. One cup of cooked spinach contains 100mg. One cup of cooked broccoli contains about 45mg.
Soy and tofu – tofu (depending on type) or tempeh and calcium fortified soy drinks.
Fish – sardines and salmon (with bones). Half a cup of canned salmon contains 402mg of calcium.

People just drink milk because thats how most of us were raised. It does not necessarily make it the right way.

Milk usually contains rSBT, which is a growth hormone that is given to cows and can be passed on to humans. If you're worried about the effects of rSBT, get one that is rSBT free, organic or try SILK Vanilla Soy Milk. Soy milk is probably better for you anyway. Because it is made from soy beans, soy milk is high in protein, isofavones, and also contains considerably more fiber than cow's milk.

Dairy Risk factors:
- rSBT (hormone) treated animals produce milk and dairy products that may contain animal hormones. Exposing children to animal hormones could have adverse effects.

Depends on the milk.
Go to http://www.realmilk.org and read up on the story of milk.

There's a lot of anti-fat rhetoric out there, but I'm hypoglycemic, and I have to eat fat and protein.

Another thing I've found is that a good number (like 1 out of 4) jugs of milk I buy in the store are spoiled or well along to being spoiled when I get them opened. Especially if bought at Wally World.

The fat and sugar in the milk isn't the greatest for your body and if you take vitamins sometimes getting too much calcium can make the bones weak. They say a glass a day is ok. I cant stand milk unless its in my Fruity Pepples(cereal)
