An abortion is okay if and only if the girl was raped. One does not want to have memories of being raped by bearing his child.

I have many opinions on this issue. First of all, let me say I am pro-choice. However, I do no believe that abortion should be used as birth control. I also think that people need to remember that adoption is an option. My main reason for being pro-choice is that I know there are special circumstances. I've been raped and I honestly can't say what I would have done if I had gotten pregnant. Also, people are going to have abortions no matter what the law says. I would rather them have it done in a clinic than die of an infection in a back ally with a coat hanger. I don't think abortion is something I could ever do personally, but I do believe women should have the choice.

I don't think abortion should be used as a birth control, but I do believe it should be an option if truly necessary. I'm 14 and I know that if I were raped, I would want the comfort of knowing that I did not have to have a child, since I am still a child myself. I think that it should only be done on a necassary basis. Adoption is also something to consider, but there are so many children already up for adoption that need loving families, that may not be the best solution either, and if you're young, having the baby could be extreemly dangerous to your own health. Not to mention that if you are young, the fact that you are pregnant is obvious, and the damage it will do to your social situation at school is terrible and can ruin the rest of your life.

NOT OK for any reason....it's killing an innocent child. It's not a choice...it isn't about the mother...it's about a baby. Let me explain....
How many abortions have there been?
There have been 46,000,000 abortion in the United States alone since 1973. 1/3 of generation Y was aborted as well as 1/4 of the current generation.
What about cases of rape and incest?
It is important to realize that pregnancy due to a rape is very, very rare. Abortions due to rape may account for only up to 5% of the 46,000,000+ abortions done in the United States since 1973—certainly not a high enough percentage from which to make laws which legalize all abortions! However, even in these rare situations abortion is not the answer. Abortion does not take away what has happened to the rape victim—she will still have been raped, whether or not she has an abortion. What must be decided now is this: should the unborn baby suffer because of the circumstances regarding her conception? The answer is no. A baby conceived from a rape is just as much of a baby conceived of love—she develops like every other person. The only 2 major studies done of girls who became pregnant after rape and incest revealed the majority of victims chose not to abort their babies. None of these girls, who either kept their babies or placed them in adoption, regretted their decision. Of the girls who chose abortion,. 95% of them regretted their choice to abort.
But what about the child with disease who will die a slow death or live his life as a burden to his family?
While situations such as these are tragic and emotional, many times people who experience the birth of a child with a disease will find that their child still lived a victorious, fulfilled life. Remember: even a life that is short is a life. As a people, we cannot start to kill the people who are a burden or who are different. This leads the way to more dangerous roads such as euthanasia of the mentally disabled or senior citizens because they are not deemed “as valuable” as people who call themselves “normal”. There are many people with diseases and disabilities who are glad that they were at least given the chance to live—and that is a chance that everyone, regardless of their health condition, should be given.

I think abortion is just like murder, if not worse, since the baby has yet to know life. If the woman is responsible enough to have sex, then she should be responsible enough to go through with the pregnancy. If she sees her actions as a mistake, the baby should not have to pay for it.
The only circumstances where I believe an abortion is acceptable is if she was raped or the pregnancy endangers her life. I know someone who was raped, and it's not a pretty thing to live with, especially if you have to bear the rapist's child. And if it endangers the mother's life...well, we can't take 'an eye for an eye,' no matter how old that adage is.
For those who say, "Well, it's the woman's body, she can do whatever she wants." How about, "It's the baby's body, it has a right to live." And if you can do whatever you want with your body, why are there laws against cocaine and marijuana?

Abortion is a very important. Even more important to to the person contemplating whther or not to go through it. Nevertheless, it is a very personal issue and one that is better left to those concerned to make up their minds about. I, definitely, do not think the state should be in the business of telling anyone whether or not they should consider abortion, just as it should not be dciding who marries whom. what the state can and should do is create standards for abortion for people who might decide to choose to go through it. By that i mean regulate the minimum stndards of people and places where abortions are carriued out, this for the sole purpose of safe guarding the health and safety of the patients.
We are always afraid of the unknown and the fear in this case, by some narrow minded folks, is that should abortion be legalized, people would be rushing to abortion clinics as a contraceptive means..I think not!

Abortion is a surgical operation, and as such it is sometimes necessary. When it is necessary (to save the mother's life, or because this pregnancy was the humiliating result of a rape, or because the mother is too unstable to take care of the child, for example) then I think it's okay. But when it's just a carefree way to get rid of the result of unconscious sex, then I'd think about it twice. Especially if I were a woman, because I think there must be very serious consequences to undergoing such an operation.

It's not OK, it is murder of the worst kind to rip a life from the safety of it's mother's womb. To douse it with chemicals, or tear it limb from limb, or suck it's brain out inches from it's first breath.
Typically, the same people who scream the loudest over at the atrocities of war or the death penalty for sick, sadistic, evil murdering rapists will defend abortion and I just DON'T GET IT. Abortion IS a death penalty for the most innocent of victims. It is chemical warfare. It is no different than the dismembering of the victims of the Sudan, yet it is legal.
There will be a whole lot of people who have to explain their stance before our Creator on this issue.

I believe it is morally wrong. Murder is murder, born or unborn.
I believe that it's a life, and should be respected for that. It's a baby, not a choice. I think it's stupid when we have abortion and people (in America) are having to go to other countries to adopt children. I believe in putting it up for adoption, because then at least it has a chance of being successful.
About the raped girl, she can put it up for adoption.
Studies show that women who were pregnated while raped showed getting over the raped part but never quite fully getting over having an abortion.

If abortions were illegal then there would be a lot more children abused, neglected and murdered (while they are alive)!! And just picture all those poor kids growing up in an orphanage feeling like damaged goods because nobody loves or wants them!! I would rather have never existed than to have a life like that!

Of course abortion isn't okay. If I'm raped by my father, it's perfectly acceptable for my government (which has every right to impose its religious beliefs on me, regardless of "separation of church and state") to force me to bear the seed of my rapist. I should do this regardless of the definite genetic mutation resulting from incest. I should do this regardless of the mental damage I will suffer from looking into the eyes of a thing resulting from animalistic, immoral urges thrust upon me. I should do this, also, to reinforce the power of the male gender. I'm only a sinning, unintelligent, immoral woman. Amen.
