I know. Sadly in today's modern world everyone's so preoccupied with their jobs and getting into the rat race that everything else just takes a back seat.
The neighborhood where I'm at for example... I've been here for like 3 years & I hardly know more than 2 neighbors! Folks just don't seem to be friendly anymore that & they're very cynical, not too mention rude.
Solution? Have an open invite to your friends/ co workers/ neighbors/ relatives, etc over to your house for a get together maybe...
I guess there should be a community based club house locally for anyone living within the vicinity to hang out at.

If "real " people will come to one spot that would be disaster...it is documented that 'real" people is not social at all, aloners for some reason...and if some one is about to fix it that would be a futile attempt...in any societies, in any time old and new, it is really Me revolution, which eventually will make you real. Real people somehow have tremendous difficulty to be among unreal ones...

There are so many place and times in the world that people reach out to each other in brother and sister hood. What is truly sad is that most or many people are so focused on themselves they miss this beautiful facet of life.
Those who give of themselves are all around you, although they may or may not admit it, they have chosen their life path for an altruistic purpose. Look at those who give so freely, parents, teachers, volunteer workers, fire persons, police persons, young men and women who joined to serve our country in the services, nurses, clergy, and on and on. ( forgive me those I did not mention ).
The beautiful gifts are there being given and it is so very shameful that many people have taken them so for granted. Look at what being a police officer does to the officer when they have no choice but to take a life. They have put themselves in that position to protect you and serve you. The same goes for each I mentioned and did not mention, in their own way, they sacrifice for the good of all.
This is caring. This is sharing. They may not be perfect real people, and one may not always like what they do, but they are real and they are there for all of us.

spend some time with older people who have learned that the me complex is counterproductive to a well rounded satisfying life. Join a group of volunteers at places like cancer fund raisers, March Of Dimes, Aids Research Fund raisers, animal shelters. etc. Go where the caring people are.

You need to step out of your comfortable life, and maybe go back-packing or just try something completely different. The real people are out there you just have to look. Sometimes we get in a negative rut, and all it takes is that first positive step in the right direction to get out of it. Good luck.

My theory is,yes we live in a very selfish society. However by realizing that everyone needs help with a problem or two,we can avoid that hiding in our own little places!Getting out to volunteer, helping friends move out or in,and attending church or Mass will get you out there!Goodness, even working takes you places! So get out there and meet some people!

Now a days people are so self centered. If they would only apply a little compassion for their fellow man,the world would be a better place to live.

We are raised by television where we see a lot of behavior but can't feel the feelings. So, we are preoccupied with how we look.
