Since "UFO" means unidentified flying object, there is really no answer. Once you believe that something is from outer space, it would not be a UFO any longer.

Having said that, there is a principle called "Occam's razor." This principle states that if different theories agree with observations, then the theory with the most simple assumptions is the one that should be chosen.

Because "Flying Saucers" require many assumptions, such as faster that light travel, ET's, technology we are unaware of, this theory violates Occam's razor.
So the best theory is that UFOs are simply hoaxes, delusions, or misinterpretations of natural phenomena.

If ET's did want us to know of them, I don't beleive anyone would be able to supress that knowlwdge. If aliens did not want us to know about them, then they would not do bizarre things, like make crop circles, return people who had witnessed them doing their surgeries, mutilate livestock.

Once, I was with someone who was seeing a "UFO." It turned out to be an unlit streetlamp reflecting other lights.

Neither. It is likely that many of the UFOs are human made objects. Things such as airplanes, satellites, and secret test aircraft. Think about this, at our current level of technology, we have had radar invisible craft for 20 years and we are close to having visible light bending camouflage. Anything capable of traveling across space (even within our solar system) in any reasonable time would certainly be capable of hiding their craft!

I'd say your most likely answer is "both/and" not "either/or".

As in, if they were from space, there'd have to be a cheat to cover the immense distances involved between stars, and that is where your other dimensions come in, be they natural or synthetically created specifically for the purpose of "getting'r'done" already.

Having said that though, as one answerer pointed out, if they were good enough to get here you'd *think* their stealth measures would be a *little* bit better, or something.... *lol*.

When one refers to UFO's, you have to understand that the letters stand for 'Unidentified Flying Objects', which doesn't always constitute little green men. But referring to the idea of beings from other planets, aliens if you will, I have always thought of them as time travelers. I mean, to be able to travel light years, they way they might, the concept of bending and managing the speed of light definitely comes into play. There is a theory that the closer an object comes to the speed of light (3.0 x 10^8 meters/second) the bigger your environment would become. This would slow down the idea of our surroundings which would mean that you could possibly slow down the continuity of time and, therefore, go back in time. So how can aliens travel from one galaxy to the next? Possibly by going back in time? Does that mean that their worlds are years and years ahead of us, while they come back to our time, which would be their past?

Why couldn't they be from both? Are you trying to say there is only one source of ufo's?
