Cause seriously they r LAME no offense i think the country is an the ppl but american ppl can get to cocky an show-offs. But thats some ppl. But american is not ight 4 soccer THEY will never win a world ever again.

I agree. The americans suck and are an insult to the game of football. There must be some scandal with them and FIFA because there is no way they are better than england. The states are not 4th in the world! Canada is better than the states!!

Soccer isn't that popular in America. It's considered a minor sport at most schools. Baseball, Basketball, Football ( American or Canadian ) and Hockey ( ice ) attract more attention, talent and money. When the professional succer league started they advertised as Americas fifth major sport.

So it's not among the top countries, and it's not where it should be, considering its facilities, but I'm not giving up. Soccer is gaining poppularity here, and, for better or for worse, America is mixing up with the rest of this planet. It's everywhere, so it's bound to catch the fever.

yes, i agree. we do suck at soccer. the reason is very simple, all of our best athletes play football instead of soccer because it's a much more popular sport here. soccer is acually a very popular participation sport among small kids(5-10 years old), it has been for many years. but as the kids get older the best athletes drop soccer and play football. high school football is HUGE here in the states. friday nights in the fall here are dominated by high school football. it's such a big part of american life, i can't overstate it. so there's your answer, as long as football remains so big here, our soccer team will always be second rate, because the best american athletes will be playing football. soccer will only get the leftovers

Well, but that's Europe's sport. Now if America took on any of Europe's teams in baseball, we would whoop y'all.

Try this ... Put USA team to play in anyone first league from England, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Netherlands, Portugal, Brazil, Argentina ... and I'm sure they can't remain in the league after one year ...

Well Mr FIFA thinks that they are pretty good overall.They just had a crap world cup.The oficiating in the Ghana match was horrendus and the "penalty" was absurd.
They haven't won the first world cup.
