o.o Most people are doing okay on the third place one. A few have gotten the last place one.

For one, you can't pass the person in last because you would be in last.

And two, if you passed the person in third you would be in third because you take their place.

hehe.

There is never a last place, there is only the loser. The only person that people remember is the winner. Therefor that makes all other people in the race a loser. Now that's not hard AT ALL to understand is it children. Just think of it for a split second.

If you pass the person in nth place, you then take over as the person in the nth place (e.g. if you are fourth and you pass the person in third, you become the person in third), UNLESS the nth place is the last place. If you pass the person in last place, you are more than a full lap ahead of that person. In this case, it is impossible to tell which position you are in (you may be the second person to pass the poor guy in last, and thus be in second), but you know you are not in last.

You're anything but last and you've just lapped the last place person. Being a track runner, I would know about these things. If you pass the person in third, obviously you came from fourth to third or are lapping the third-place runner.

You're in first place, if you pass the person in last place then that would mean you lapped them which would put you in 1st.

You cannot pass the person in last place because you are last, and if you pass the person in third place, that would put you in third place.

First place. If you pass the person in last, you have lapped the whole lot and are in the lead.

If the race has only 4 people and you will be the last one.

If you pass the last place runner, the only certainty is that you are next to last. You could be in 1st or 999th.
If you pass the runner in 3rd place, your in 3rd place.

You can only pass the person in last if you are NOT in last yourself. So you must "pass" the person going backward, which puts YOU in last place.

If you pass the person in third, that puts YOU in third.
