it rotates both ways. when looked at from space at the north pole, the earth rotates counter clockwise. when looked at from space from the south pole, it rotates clockwise. you can check this with a globe. spin the globe to the right and look at the earth from the bottom and top. it turns both clockwise and counter clockwise.
