I think it gives people something to think about during their day. Also, the people writing them are making money and i think that's the point of it all... as long as there are people who feel that they need these horoscopes to live their lives, those who write them will keep doing it, real purpose or not

I like to think of horoscopes as Gods way of giving us all personalities. Horoscopes affect everyday interdependent activity. The outside planets in our universe have a direct affect on this planet earth. The moon for example controls the tides of the ocean, a womens menstral cycle is the same as the moons (the moon has a 28 day cycle), and it also effects when a women goes into labor. Beleive it or not where the planets are at at a given moment does effect the weather and our emotions. Day or night is determined by the sun! Seasons depend on the universe, we are not just a rock floating in space. The planet and all the planets in our solar system follow a universal law! Horoscopes is like a tracking system that describes the placement of the planets in the universe in according to when you were born. If a group of people where born a certain Sun Sign then that means at that time the planets where in a similar place and have a direct affect of the personality and mood that person is made up of. It is more personal than entertainment to me. It helps me understand our similarities, differences, and compatibilities with people I interact with everyday. Contact me for more info.

Ancient shamans believed that the 12 monthly rotations of the sun and moon equaled 12 separate signs that defined perceived personalities. The Chinese took the 12 signs to a solar year, then defined 12 years of personalities from within. Over the years, the practice became more of an entertainment form. But, in the centuries B.C., astrology was a serious practice with severe penalties for disobeying shamans.

What are the chances that 1/12 of the world is going to have the same day as you?
Embrace reality. Use education over ignorance. Science over superstition.

Different fool... different tool.
Some people for fun. Some for searching for meaning or purpose or awareness. Some for divining. Some for helping others with their issues.
It's like music. You can critique it, use it for therapy, be moved or inspired by it, vibe with it, or just dance... choose your path and go with it...

I read mine for fun everyday. I never put much into them. They are so broad that it can mean anything in your day to day life.
