Is it possible to use a DVD-R disk to record normal video files from a computer? I'm not sure what type they are, they're just 3-5 minute videos of fighter planes from the internet somewhere.

Can they be copied to this kind of disk? If so...will they work?

Thanks!

Yes you can , but if you want to play them in a DVD player, you will need to transcode them.
NeroVision is the program I like to use to perform this function as it is pretty much drag and drop simple.
It does all the work for you.
Of course you need a DVD burner. You cannot use these disks in a CD burner.
If you have a CD burner and regular CDRs but still want something that will play in your DVD player, most players support a format called SVCD and VCD. Nerovision is also capable of making your videos into a VCD or SVCD disk on a regular CDR.

Yes you can burn them to a DVD disk, but a DVD Player (for TV) will only play it back if it supports the format. You will still be able to play it back on your pc DVD player.

Look at the manual to find out what file types it supports, then use a converter (search the net) to convert the file if it is not supported.

PS. You also need a DVD Writer in you PC to burn DVD's.

You can put any type of files on a DVD-R. It will be a Data DVD. Also you can create a Video DVD (like one you rent), but you need some DVD creation software for that. Usually it comes with the DVD burner unit, but it's limited. So the final answer is yes, you can create anything you want with a DVD-R.
