There are some artist that could make the transition from Europe to America and still be popular, but some has failed to gain American popularity. There still might be a small fan-base for the Verve and Richard Ashcroft in America, but not the same size as it was when they did "Bittersweet Symphony". That song was huge in America and was the only recognizable song that U.S. people knew from that band (heck, they didn't even know who sung it in the first place). After that song, they just faded away in America and was never heard from again. I'm from America and I still know who Richard Ashcroft is and the Verve (I don't know if he is with the Verve now because the last time I saw him was on the Live 8 concert web cast with Coldplay. That how clueless we are in America about that band), but it will always be "Bittersweet Symphony" that I recognized from that band and nothing else.

the verve's song bittersweet symphony was big in america about 5 years ago... i liked the song, but never heard about them after that
