Ive gone twice to cedar point and im going again tomorrow but whenever i go on a roller coaster i always tense up a lot and cant enjoy the rides. does anyone have any suggestions on how i could stop being so tense and how i could loosen up? i heard that if you scream it will help you relax your stomach and lungs is there any truth to that?

Personally i'm not much of a screamer on roller coasters, it doesn't help me much, but if it does for you, then defintly scream as loud and long as you possibly can.

What helps me is to firs watch the roller coaster for a bit, if you can become familiar with what will happen, there will be less suprises, and that can help you relax. Also riding with somebody that is "experienced" riding roller coasters, and also sensitive to your fears can help. They can talk you through it while you ride, and help you have fun.

The last thing I would suggest is not to ride in the front, or back of the rollercoaster. Try to ride somehwere in the middle, at least for the first ride. The middle is often the most gentle part of the ride, and you can see whats about to happen so you can prepare yourself. Often the suprise of a quick turn, can make you tense up, and once your tense its hard to relax.

Screaming helps. But once you understand and truly belive that the coaster makes hundreds of runs every week and is inspected daily, you will be able to allow yourself to be totally at ease. They would not sell tickets if they thought you were in any real danger. Once you get all that behind you, you will have no problem relaxing and enjoying the ride.

Try to relax and just enjoy the trip, its also good not think of what may happen if the ride was to break. I have heard that screaming or taking deep breaths helps also but I think one or two beers is good to loosen you up before getting on. Its a myth that you will vomit if you just ate or drank something, I have done it often and haven't puked once.

Just breathe, screaming will allow you to breathe. When you tense up, you stop breathing. So just scream, which will let you breathe, which will stop you from tensing up. Just enjoy the rides and enjoy those stomach turning G's
