I just bought a brand new car- its beautiful and black. I'm a girl so I don't know much about car soap, wax, etc. What should I use to keep my car looking really nice? I want to keep the paint nice and shiny and protect it from the sun.

There are car wash soaps that will not harm the finish
as ordinary soap will. They also tend to sheet the water off
better too. A good wax is also good for the paint.
Any auto parts store will carry these.
My favorite is meguiars brand. take a look.

Make sure you buy some detergent designed for automotive finishes. Household cleaners may strip wax off your car.

Keep the car wet and start at the top with an absolutely clean wash cloth. If you drop the cloth on the ground get another until you can run the dropped one through the washing machine. I f you reuse a dropped wash cloth, it will have picked up dirt from the ground which will scratch your car's finish.

Next do the windows, top of hood, top of trunk. Rinse after each step.

Do the sides in two passes, the first above the door trim, and the last pass for the rest toward the bottom - do this because the car is dirtier toward the bottom.

Keep the car wet (I know I said that before but its important), especially where you are scrubbing.

Do the wheels and tires last.

Then when you are done washing, dry it off with a synthetic chamois cloth. These absorb a lot of water and make drying easier. When you have done this, there will still be a little water left, use a clean dry cotton towel for this.

Try to wash it in the shade.
First spray tires with Wesley's Bleach White and scrub white letters or whitewall. then rinse.
Wet the car first and rinse off and soil.
Use a bucket with car wash and a soft long handled brush, lambs wool mitt or schiwala(shami-washer) -never dish soap it will remove wax.
Work from the bottom up and rinse before it dries.
Wipe car with a damp chamois or bath towel to dry.
Spray with McGuire's quick detailer and wipe off.
It repels dirt and gives a great shine between waxes.

first, spray car down with water, do it in the sections your working on cuz the water will dry. Suds it up and rinse. Wash in sections. Towel dry to remove water spots. Apply a good wax, work in the shade and work in small sections because your in trouble if the wax dries on your car.
