I was in Boston for the Dem Convention two years ago, and I saw some of the historic sites. The Old Statehouse and the old churches are interesting.
The Freedom Trail is pretty nice, it leads you around to all the major sites.

We were there in 2005 and followed a brick path embedded in the sidewalk called the Freedom Trail. This connected many of the historical sites downtown such as Old North Church, Paul Revere's house, and Faneuil Hall. Boston has a nice compact downtown that is very walkable. Plymouth Rock you'll have to see by driving south of Boston along the coast towards Cape Cod to Plymouth.

We went quite awhile ago, but we enjoyed it a lot. I think my favorite spot was actually the John Hancock tower...because at the top there was a map of historical Boston with lights showing the movement of the Revolutionary War troops and it really brought history together. Then we went to some of the sites we had seen on the map and things made more sense. We also went to Walden Pond but you'd have to go VERY early in the morning otherwise once the park is full, they don't let anyone else in until someone else leaves. Search the Internet. If you belong to AAA get their Trip book for the area. Go to the Tourism bureau that should be off the major highway going into town. If you're flying in, check at the local information booth...they might be able to give you some brochures. Check the Yahoo travel area. Check out the site below. Have fun!

Yo-yo - you might be interested in the black heritage trail that starts on Beacon Street near Boston Commons. I think it's about a 1.5 mile walk around a very neat little neighborhood.
