Can one of you describe the difference between an old conservative, and a new conservative (neo=new)?

Im curious how conservatives have changed in your eyes.

It is common because the neolibs are using it every time they open their mouths. They think it's an insult. I think some of them don't know what it means, they see neo, and associate it with neo-nazi. I'm trying to see if any of these people know what they are talking about.

Neo means new. That means it is different than the old one. So please explain.

" to replace autocratic regimes with democratic ones" = non-patriotic, anti-constitutionalism

How did you do that math?

I just answered a question like this...let me say that I am NOT A LIBRAL...notice how I don't have to write everyting in CAPITAL LETTERS LIKE I AM SHOUTING.

Anyhow, I think that there isn't a difference. Consevatives have a clear cut moral belief on various issues...it is instilled in us...

Librals have to take issue and be on the opposite side of the issue than we are...so they really don't have any clear stance on these variuos issues until the conserative has a view...

Now, the term Neo-con...is just a subliminal message to make some think about Neo-NAZI's...it make the DNC think that they are winning votes by trying to paint us as NEO-NAZI ...by calling us NEO- CONS...

It's all just name calling...

Ok, just read the first answer and I'm not for BIG government...in fact, I like the Libraterian view and have a smaller government...I guess Wicipedia or whatever it is...is a libral thing too???

Neocon as my friends (all liberals) and I (equally guilty) use it, is different from the old conservative essentially in two ways. First, the unabashed tight association with the Christian Right. Second, all of a sudden conservatives are into global affairs, whereas they always were isolasionists. The result of this combination has led to much of the aggressive maneuvers in the Middle East and seeing that Israel remains free to do whatever it deems the Bible permits it to. The Christian Right strongly supports Israel, to the point of verbally attaquing Sharon for dislodging some settlers. That is why many Jews are neo-cons.
It was never so blatantly OK to bring Christianity in the Oval Office. How unsuave.

Eisenhower and Goldwater were conservatives. They believed in fiscal responsibility and small government. The current administration is neo-conservative. They don't believe in government by and for the people. They believe in a ruling class and big business. That is why the push to privatize everything. The strange thing is the first neo-con was a Sen. Henry "Scoop" Jackson of Washington. He was a Democrat. His aide was Richard Perle, a member of PNAC and it is said he was the person behind the US policy on Iraq.

Im a Conservative Republican myself and it is my undersanding that Ex-Liberals who turned Conservative are called Neo-Conservatives for some reason.

Im an Ex-Liberal myself so I guess according to the Liberals I would be deemed a Neo-Conservative or a Neo-Con which by the way Neo-Con is a slur for a Jewish person I hope the Liberals out there know this.

Neo-con is a legitimate term, used commonly!

Wikipedia: Neoconservatism (or neocon) refers to the political movement, ideology, and public policy goals of "new conservatives" in the United States, that are relatively unopposed to "big government" principles and believe in limited restrictions on social spending.

In the context of United States foreign policy, neoconservative has another, narrower definition. Critics define it as interventionist with hawkish views on foreign policy. Supporters define it as advocating the use of military force, unilaterally if necessary, to replace autocratic regimes with democratic ones. This view competes with liberal internationalism, realism, and non-interventionism.

So, basically non-patriotic, anti-constitutionalism.

Actually they are neither, they are Fascist!!

Neocon was a word liberals gave to their own that became conservative!

But a neocon today is closer to Fascism than they are to being Republican!!

They are radical authoritarian, none tolerant, hate liberals, are for militarism, corporatism, totalitarianism, extreme nationalism, anti-communism and anti-liberalism.

I told you they had all the 'isms!
