The changes that work best for most people are the ones that happen slowly. One thing that will really motivate you is to make it a daily goal to write down 2 servings of food that you would normally have, but decided not to because you're trying to improve. For example, you ate half of a bagel for breakfast instead of a whole one like you usually do... that type of thing. This is much easier than what most people say to do, which is the opposite: write down everything you eat so that you can see it as being excessive. Writing down just 2 things that you didn't eat, but wanted to/ or would under other, non-dieting circumstances will keep you more motivated. You won't feel like you failed if you "mess up" a little bit, because in a short period of time ( a week, maybe?) you'll see a whole list of foods that you weren't eating and that will make you see how much you didn't need/want them and how "good" you really have been about your diet! Plus you'll see how quickly calories add up in items that seem so small/ unneccessary at the time you're consuming them. At the same time, you won't feel like you were just DEPRIVED or were doing something that is so hard that you'll burn out on continuing. The best part to this is the truth: it's really only about 200 calories of daily intake difference that sets apart the weight of a person who is about 120 pounds, vs. someone who is about 140 lbs. If you're consistent, you'll reach your goal, and I hope you do! :)

Find out how many calories your body needs to maintain weight and then subtract either 500 from the daily total (a combination of eating less calories and exercise) for a 1 pound a week loss or 1000 calories for a 2 pound loss. If you plateau- subtract an additional 200-250 calories a day.

The best thing you can do is go to a nutritionist, because it's going to help you in the right way and it's actually going to show you HOW to eat, that way you can make a healthy lifestyle and maintain a healthy weight always. Don't believe in those crazy diets, for example the ones that "say" they can make you lose 30 lbs in 30 days, I mean, that crazy and impossible. Extreme diets make you gain all of that weight back, WHY? Because you don't learn how to eat; you finish the diet, and you say "OK, I'm going to continue eating the way I used to eat before" and that is actually going to make you gain all the weight back. So look for a good diet that can help you to learn how to eat and combine all the nutrients and foods throughout the day and make that a lifestyle, actually it's a good thing!

BTW, Exercise alone don't make lose weight, eating less fat and calories is going to help you IN COMBINATION with the exercises .

Change your way of eating. There are many sites and books that can give you healthy food choices which is different than a diet. Then there's exercise. Some cardio and strength training or pilates. While I have never had a weight problem, I do eat healthy because it makes me feel better. I also know that once in a while you still need to treat yourself to a favorite pleasure.

Talley up where you are. Make a spreadsheet with your normal meals, servings down the left. Then look up these meals on the net to find out their calories. Look up your negative calories for the day & your exercise. Keep track of this for a bit, you'll see that generally, your positive on your calories; you need it to go negative. -3500 calories = 1lbs loss. It took a while to beef up, it'll take a while to turn it around. But, as long as you keep it negative, you're sheading weight.

Eat organic foods! Dieting won't really help but excersise definately will! Sitting on the computer most of the day won't help. Try walking to replace the time and you'll see better results!

What worked for me was a low fat diet and exercise. Walking is a great way to lose inches and strengthen muscles. Good Luck!

i know this may seem funny to you but i have lost 24 lbs by eating the subway subs that are in the 5-8 grams of fat for lunch and dinner, we just started doing it at work to feel better and then when the weight started coming off, we also started eating them for dinner and it is really coming off now, funny, but it works!
