They have never put names on the jersey (a baseball trend which only started in the 60s). Some say that it is enough that the player is a Yankee and that is all anyone needs to know.

the yankees have never put theirs names on the jersey theirs no "I" in team they have won 26 championships as a whole many legends but to be a yankees once is to be one for life.

They spend ALL thier money on buying players---there is none left over for letters on uniforms.
Also, players come and go so quickly with ny---they would have to re-sew all the uniforms.
